Default FAST manifold opinion

Im asking for an opinion not giving it........

If the manifold came out of the box with the following features would you buy it for $1200.00:

1- Modified with no need to cut the C6 firewall.
2- Black to match the finish of the stock manifold
3- Resealed with a garantee of no leaks
4- Ported for use with stock heads 243 castings

If not would you buy it for $800.00....(this is to give an idea of who just hates it)

L76/2008 vette manifold owners can refrain from posting 'no' and that it wont fit with their heads.

Spin you are public supportert of the F.A.S.T. and I have saught out your opinion on it a few times. I'm still debating on whether or not to get it, and the list of modifications you mention here would persuay me more towards it.

Why, what have you got going on Guy?

I would buy it, but not for 1200.00. Would rather get it for less, and then have it port matched to my heads.

5 - no mods required for the fuel-rails.
$1200 for ported FAST ready to bolt on? Yes.
$800? Yes, here's my order.

Yes, if the "porting" were a complete cleanup of all necessary areas. In this case, the FAST would be a great deal.

Guys the FAST is over 800 with zero work. I got mine for low 700s, but that was a killer deal and represented a total discount because I bought several thousand dollars at the same time as the fast.

When I got the intake and removed the top piece, I could not believe how much work it needed. I spent 5 hours with a dremel cleaning it up. Most shops would charge at least 500 just for the "porting", which in this case is a misnomer, because no actual porting takes place.

Then there is the mod kit and the other stuff. This is a good price.

Short list of items
1) Paid ~725 including shipping for a new FAST (included gaskets, allen head bolts and manifold bolts) + free T shirt (search ebay)
2) Porting was a bit more I used ls2 portworks, Cory-great to deal with.
3) Lingenfelter MAP relocation kit.
4) Firewall kit
5) LS1 Orings for the injectors
6) I sanded off the FAST logo and painted it black

Total cost was pushing ~$1200 including shipping for items, my labor for all except porting.

If I could have bought one complete without having to cut the firewall for that price I would have done it, $1200 is still a little high if your talking mass market production.

Just ordered my Fast 90, guess who is going to get his hands on it for some mods? Finally, took the plunge. I think this will be it for a while.

Hi Spin,

I'm going to take the FAST plunge today.

Here's the list I am about to buy:

FAST Manifold FAST # 54003 from LPE $754.00
Map Relocation Kit for LS2 Corvette with Fast 90 MM Intake LN-BK28KIT $66.95
C6 Firewall Modification Kit from LPE $47.95

So I will have $ 868.9 plus $400.00 or $1268.90 total for the parts and labor for my FAST Intake installation.

I assume you either have to purchase the Katec MAP Extension Harness or the MAP relocation relocation kit from LPE? Anyone? We are using stock Fuel Rails.

$1200 may sound initially high for the gains, but I think it is a great price to get it with all that custom work included if you are considering it as an upgrade.. There is some mystery to what is needed, how to get it worked out, etc...but this would remove all doubts....especially if a good set of illustrated instructions for installation came along with it.

My only question would be, how would this mod compare to the the L92/L76 head and manifold swap in terms of cost vs power gains? That's probably fuel for a different thread...

Oh, and Spin, Ive got some goodies for you, maybe lunch tomorrow?

Default What Parts to Purchase

Do I also need to buy the LSX Intake to GM LS2 Injector/Fuel Rail Adapter Kit Part #: COMP54026 that Maryland speed has listed? It says that this kit includes a square fuel rail spacer, all new fasteners and a full set of injector adaptors.

Would I need to add that to the list below?
FAST Manifold FAST # 54003 from LPE $754.00
Map Relocation Kit for LS2 Corvette with Fast 90 MM Intake LN-BK28KIT $66.95
C6 Firewall Modification Kit from LPE $47.95
LSX Intake to GM LS2 Injector/Fuel Rail Adapter Kit Part #: COMP54026 $74.95

It gets really confusing trying to figure out exactly what you need to buy.

This still seems to be a good deal for the HP gained.

It comes out of the box pretty much matched to the stock heads. Port matching on stock heads wouldnt produce much by way of gains. After market heads have wider and in some cases different shaped intake runner openings so there is much to be gained by that. The porting that goes on for use with stock heads still does give a gain but not the great gains from use with aftermarket heads.

That being said, I want to take the opportuninty to state that I am not starting a for sale thread here and I am not a supporting tuner or vendor. I am doing an install for free for welcome2try and the above mods are being done to the manifold for free and as a favor. He bought the manifold for 735 shipped and it will get all of the above done to it for free. Free install too. Anyone else who wants it done will also get it for free as long as they understand I have to go in the order I get the requests and that I have to have a life too. I am retiured and dont need any money but at the same time i value my job free life and dont want to be modding manifolds for the next 5 months at 6 hours a day.

I have already gotten 7 PM's on the topic and the price is parts plus the manifold that you supply which probably totals 770 bucks.

Thanks for participating in the poll.

Nothing from that list except oversized washers at 50 cents each from Home depot to hold the fuel rail down. I would use a LS1 fuel rail before getting the fuel rail kit.

The version I am talking about here will not require any relocation harness, firewall mod kit, or fuel rail kit. When I had the FAST on my car and used the rear mounting location for the MAP, I extended the wires already on the car.

The FAST in stock form gets you about 12rwhp at peak and 20-25rwhp from 3500-5500. Peak numbers dont tell the story. In the midband they exceed headers with cats in some cases.

Through the power band, the L92's and L76 will outperform the FAST only mod by far. The L92/76 set-up is 1200 for the parts and 400-600 for springs for the heavy valves. The FAST plus AFR's will outperform the L92/76 combo in the 3k-4k range.

Lunch is fine, let me know what time. Hit the cell yo.
