Default Mod Why Bother?

My c6 is my 16th vette and i have moded all except this one. With the cost of moding so high now and gettig so little bang for the buck why bother ?Most people on this forum don:t believe in street racing and won:t even discuss it,yet i posted asking how many have gone to the track or have plans to go and the response was very low.So whats the point?Selling a moded car u take a beating, and i sure wouldn:t buy one .It also seems there are lots of problems arising with some mods. There are very few cars that can hang with a c6 stock . There are tons of vettes in my neighborhood and i have never seen any race each other .Even myself , i love the track but have so little time to go anymore and its so far away .

All mods are not in the engine compartment. Most of my mods are inside the cockpit to make it look better.

Like You said,....You "modded" all but one of Your 16 Vettes!!!!!
Must have been a reason!! Mine has lots of mods{inside and engine},but Folks just do it for fun or bragging rights!
To each His own!!

For some, modding is a journey not a destination. Enjoy the ride.

I'm an engineer. I tinker. I built an exhaust system for my wife's Hemi Charger. I tune Vettes and Fords. Her '07 Vette has headers because I like them. Her '67 Corvette has a Crane cam because I like them. I have a turbocharger on my 99 Cobra because I wanted to learn about turbos.

But the Corvette mods are reversible on the '07 and I used parts that are in high demand and I won't have any trouble selling them if I trade/sell the car. I'll be fine......if I can resist installing a twin disk clutch and 4.10 gears. And line lock. Wait a minute! That is what I said about the 99 Cobra, seven years ago.

So what you're saying is you aren't going to mod your new Vette? Good for you. I chose to mod, very small right now but I've only got around 80 passes on my C6. So when I go more, I'll get more mods. BTW, the mods do make a difference, by more a half a second and 8 mph in the 1/8th mile alone. There's probably some driver improvement in there as well. Some guys like to put 3M all over their car and never drive it in the rain, never run it over 60, etc (this describes a friend of mine). Hey, it's his C6. To each their own.

There's a difference between talking about it and actually doing it.

Besides, this forum will ban you if you discuss going 2 mph over the limit.

"Mods Why Bother?"

I think if you drove my car for a day you might just change your mind.

I've never purchased or modded a car with any thought about resale value. I mod a car for my enjoyment and driving pleasure and I tend to keep a good car for a number of years. My naturally aspirated LPE 403 motor is reliable, drivable and it flat hauls-***. It also has an LPE warranty.

I truly enjoyed driving my stock C6 but I can honestly say I enjoy driving my modified C6 a whole lot more....both on the street and on a road course. My car is a proverbial blast to drive....a source of great personal enjoyment and satisfaction. I consider modding my C6 to have been money very well spent.

Funny how timely this thread is, 1/2 hour ago I placed an order from e-bay for a Fast-90 upper intake (to be ported and modified without cutting firewall) . Five weeks ago, got done swaping a cam and underdrive pulley with superior results and now as fast a stock C6-Z. So I mod, because I just like mine different and for the sheer speed.

to each his own

It's hard to legitimize putting a brand new 2500$ exhaust system on a now 3 year old c6. NEW mods and Corvette tax- sour the water for NEW mod parts. I'll continue to shop for used or keep it as is.

Many Brand New mod parts for- newer -cars are easier to swallow than brand new parts for older cars IMO .

I don't think I have ever owned a sports car that I did not mod. I think that you come to a cross road of street car or track car but none the less I still mod.

I have never been concerned on resale value of modding. If I was wanting something to retain value I would have bought real estate instead of something that is losing value sitting in the garage

Whatever happened to having a nice vette and knowing with the stock horse power it is going to be faster than most street cars as it is. I like to kick my cars in the *** once in awhile but if I was going to drag race I'd buy an old camaro or nova and mod that up. Even course racing I think I'd get one of those old ricer cars and beat the crap out of them and when they broke I'd take them out to a pasture like an old horse and shoot it. The vette is a fine machine, with looks, style and testesterone, kinda like me, it deserves some of the finer things in life, treat it with respect and use the power when you just "have to". My only mod will be CAI, more air in, and my NPP exhaust, more exhaust out. That's it. I cant afford three or four vettes, if you can then run the hell out of them.

"Only" to you, is too much to some and not enough to others. Why do you need a CAI? Isn't the stock intake good enough?

ok, ok, I guess I can't leave it completely stock, but you have to admit just a CAI is not much for mods
