im about to start adding mods to my 2007 A6 Z51 and was wondering which cai do you guys like better. vararam or breathlessperformance vortex? i live in miami and was going to take my car to them since they are close by. I was thibking of getting their stage 2a package. Any suggestions??
I have the BPP Vortex Rammer and love it! The quality of the product is very high, and the finished look under the hood is"tight".I removed the stickers that came on the Vortex power duct, and used a C6 air bridge flag emblem decal for a more o.e. appearance. You will probably get many people posting that the Snakecharmer is the ultimate, but for me(being a contrarian by nature) I decided to be different and am glad I made this decision.Performance is definately enhanced and noticeable, more as an overall increase in smoothness and responsiveness throughout the powerband, and the sound from the Flowmasters has changed to a deeper and throatier growl.Just one enthusiast's experience that I hope is helpful!
ESSENTIALLY,THE setup is similar on both hence gains should be had by either one since you're getting air from outside.I can only speak on the VARARAM though, since that's what I have and I'm very happy with it.I tried a SLP filter a month ago (same as BLACKWING,HALLTECH,K+N,ETC) For a day to see if I really noticed a difference, and brother, ain't no comparison between those and the VARARAM!!I promptly sold the SLP and re installed the V-RAM.
I was just on the VR website and it didnt specify.
is it VR-SC1R?
I want to order one asap. anyone got a lead on the best price?
The VR-SC1R for the C6-Z06 looks like it will be a great fit for the 08 LS3. Just need to verify bracketry and then we are good to go!! Pricing is the same!!
Thanks
Steve

jose0604, is your car a daily driver? if so, especially in miami, then you should consider the problem of driving through standing rainwater, the vararam air scoop sits lower to the ground and has the greater potential of sucking in water from puddles, the vortex kit sits higher and therefore, reduces the risk, I went with the Honker cai that has a similar design to the bpp vortex for this reason. The fit and finish on the Honker is oe quality and the air filter is easy to acess for cleaning. I have used BPP vortex in a C5 and think they are good also, but like the Honker's fit, finish, and price better, good luck

Of course Vortex, there is no comparison in quality and asthetics, both will perform as expected, however the clear set up on the vortex cai with the black carbon fiber belly really looks neat in the engine bay with the filter. Cost a bit more, but man the compliments I get at car meets..
