It started to chatter at around 9000 miles. I did a bunch of figure 8's as some suggested but the noise would not go away. After changing the oil, the chatter completely went away.
I decided to go with Amsoil as so many had tried having the dealer change the oil with the GM additive but the chatter seemed to come back in the majority of the posts. The posts in regards to Amsoil seemed a little more promising. Anyway, I have around 400-500 miles on the car since the change. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the chatter stays away.
Thanks, Dave O. Please report back in a few thousand and let us know if the diff is still quiet on the Amsoil plus "Slip-Lock."
I have had the change done at 9000 mi and chatter and moaning came back at 12000 mi. I am considering changing the fluid myself because it is easy and I don't want the dealership to touch it if I don't have to. Will this void any warranty?

You can change the fluids yourself with no adverse impact on the warranty.
That assumes proper procedure and use of fluids that meet Chevy spec. Those would be an issue only if consequential issues emerge. For example, if during the change, you break a fitting on the diff or tranny cooler line, that's on you not Chevy.
