Well, your Vette-Air, IMO, has a problem...its not a true CAI since it looks like they are all installed with warm air inlets, air velocity or no. Only the Honker, Xcelerator and Vararam are the true blue COLD AIR inlets as they dont allow any warm air in (Oops, I forgot speed demon's 11secondGP's custom K&N filter). Finally, again, IMO, a FREE-Aire propped shroud will perform a very similar trick as yours.

The Halltech filter flows pretty darn good and it also filters pretty well.

If you can find a CAI kit that promotes great air flow with horsepower increase and NO dust whatsoever, then let us know. I am not being a jerk, just making a point.

Thanks,

It seems to me that with a Vette Air scoop the only way to keep The large amounts of unwanted dust out of the engine compartment is to completely seal the area in front of the radiator from the rest of the engine, and it would enhance the ram effect of the scoop. I noticed from several other posts that some have done this. It also seems like a lot of extra work and I am not enamoured with how it looks. I again ask, will the Vette Air aide air flow with the factory air filter on an '08 C6? For those who have a Vararam, is picking up dust through the scoop a problem?

I think you answered your own question. The Vararam "ar ram" portion is very siimilar to the Vette-Air. Not only dust but leaves too in Fall.

If someone is worried about extra dust/leaves, you might as well stop right there and forget adding a CAI with front scoop.

Then again the only aftermarket intakes that really offer a performance increase (proven with track results) are bottom feeders like Vararam/Vette-Air/Callaway/LPE

Good point, I was just curious about it. I plan to get a ram-air type of filter soon after my car gets here. Thanks

I have an Xcelerator (Honker clone) which is a bottom feeder too (cut out in shroud) but gets much less dust etc. than those front scoop jobs.
