Default 2005 Corvette Sitting For 1 Year.

I parked a 2005 corvette just under a year ago and have not touched it since. I did pull the negative teminal off the battery. what should I do to get the car back up and running. heard plenty of stories and just want to get a definitive answer.

I do hope you put some sort of Stabilizer in the gas and made sure that it ran long enought to get to the injectors.. IF it starts get fresh gas into it ASAP

If you did not change the oil before you put it away, change it ASAP.

Make sure your tires are at the right pressure.

Charge the battery, start it up, drive normally. Should not be a problem if the gas tank cap was on.

my 05 has been sitting since July 05 and still only has 291 miles on it. just put some fresh gas (93 octane) and charge the battery, you'll be fine.

How could you let a vette sit for a year and never drive it? Unless you had 2

You will need to reset the window indexing after the battery gets reconnected. Just in case you've never done this before, here are the instructions.

Raise the window and hold the up switch an extra 3 seconds. Release. Without lowering the window, hold the up switch again for 3 seconds. Release. Done.

This is called resetting of the window indexing or power window initialize and is in the owner's manual. See page 2-17 of the 2005 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2006 owner’s manual, or page 87 of the 2007 owner’s manual.

Didn't think anything like this could be real until I heard it...you guys are insane. But to each his own.

On a separate note though, if I owned a Veyron, I would put more miles on that than the 421 miles on this guys vette.

Default Starting a sleeping vette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the official update is:

I reconnected the negative terminal and pushed the start button; fired right up. I then changed the oil and drove it four hours to LA.. .. Score one point for the vette.

Worst thing you can do to a car is let it sit.

Additionally, I would squirt oil into each spark plug hole to eliminate the possibility of breaking a ring.

If it runs well you’ll be lucky.
