I think he means that it will get down to ambient. If not then

I have found that my stock setup would also reach ambient but it would take quite awhile at highway speeds to reach that temp. I have since reinstalled my Halltech and used the "Free Cold Air Mod" as posted on this site. MY IAT's are at or near ambient not long after reaching highway speeds. They will still climb to above 130F at extended idle or speeds below 5 mph but so will every other CAI out there. If you have scans to prove they will not rise way above ambient when idling or at speeds below 5 mph please post them. I also tried the "FCAM" with the stock setup but the results were not as good. I think this is due to the stock filter sitting higher in the engine compartment.

The real fix for this problem is Water/Meth injection for about the same price as a CAI. It WILL lower the IAT below ambient. I have just finished installing it but have not finished final tuning. Once everything is complete I hope to post some results but so far it looks real good.

You are correct my friend

Default Ram Air Specialists intake

There is another option...Ram Air Specialists have an intake for the C6 Vette.

This is a molded polycarbonate product made to the same standards as OEM products that comes with all stainless steel hardware.

The product allows a more user friendly attachment method for installation and service than most others. The system also provides a larger plenum and a more laminar flow design to allow the engine to breathe even better.

Check out the product on Ebay (with photos) for under $300 at auction# 140149445769

Your question was about CAI. That means Cold Air Induction.K&N, BLACKWINGS, and any other air filter configuration that draws air from inside the engine comaprtment is NOT a CAI. Calloway, Vararam, Vortex, or any configuration that draws air from the bottom, or front of the car is a CAI.I have a Vararam, and I like it alot($315 including shipping). I know several people with Calloways who are real happy with them too, but they are about $500 plus shipping. Look on fleabay for a used one, of on the forum. There is no substitute for COLD AIR though.

I have 6ft intake that is 1/2" thick in diameter, but it gets cold air from 3ft in front of the car! Who cares about flow? Cold air is all that matters!

Whiterock did a good spread on pushing it back by taking the push pins out and propping it open. Works GREAT! and easy back to stock, costs nada. Took me all of 5 minutes and I'm a klutz at getting those *&^(*& pushpins out! *&^%*( After that, used two long bolts with double nuts to hold it 3" open and voila! Nothing but cold outside air to the Aircharger! Best mod I have ever heard of! And like I said, FREE!!!! My favorite price!!

For the ease and ability to go back to stock within seconds, a K&N intake w/Free cold air mod is tough to beat.

Buy a used K&N Aircharger and save a bunch of $. That's what I did and have been extremely satisfied with the quality.
