Too early for Kooks to be open and I'm stuck. Installing a set of their 1 7/8" on my 08. Which way do the 02 sensors point on the X pipe, toward the bottom of the car or towards the ground? I've tried both ways and the ball joints don't align. Seems to come closer with the 02s pointing down but then the they are hanging somewhat down and could be hit by road debris. I've got my headers already buckled down so no movement with the headers.
Maybe somebody had a pic of the X pipe installed. I ran a search but no luck.
Logically, the O2s should be on top of the pipes pointing up. You may have to loosen the headers in order to gain more wiggle room.
Logically you are right but they seem to come closer to fitting in the down position. If nobody knows for sure I guess I'll have to wait until Kooks opens and find out from them.
Yep, looks like loosening the headers might be the only solution unless I can find a good position to use my crowbar without denting pipes.
Seems like just a one line note in the instructions of which way they point would have been a good solution to my problem!
Just so all will know. The 02s go up even though mine come closer to fitting down. Kooks told me you just have to pry the header over to fit. Guess I'll get out the old pry bar! Maybe have to loosen the header.

Hi, what did you have to take apart in order to get your headers on. I do not mean the old exhaust. tricks for an easier job. thanks
There really isn't alot that has to come apart for the install. The stock manifolds. cats and mid-pipes come off. Headers slide into place from the bottom then the cats/new mid-pipes bolt in. It's really not to bad as long as you can safely get the car up in the air.

I've finished the installation of my 1 7/8" Kooks. Really only had two problems. Already mentioned the first, the catted X pipe ball joint was a little too narrow to fit the headers with them bolted to the heads. My crow bar took care of that. The second, when I got the X pipe and intermediate pipes up and ready to go into the mufflers I came up short. I positioned the mufflers all the way forward as far as I could get them, pulled back on the intermediate pipes so they hooked just enough on the X pipe to prevent leakage or come loose. Then I was able to get the muffler pipes into the pipes enough so I feel that joint will be ok. Another 1" or even 1/2" length in that intermediate pipe would have been better. Mine is an 08. These pipes were designed for 05-07. Maybe that's the reason the system was too short. Or maybe my car is just a little longer than most.
Glad you got things together. Good job.
I still have a small exhaust leak where the LGs connect to the Magnaflows. As soon as the outside temps get reasonable, I'll see about fixing it.
