Default 1LT Seatback recliner issues???

I have an 06 w/ the 1lt seats. The recliner levers seem well, flimsy. When pulling up they are not smooth and seem to catch. The main problem i noticed is that the seatbacks themselves can be tilted forward and back about 2-3 inches at the top while locked. All the other cars i own when the recliner lever is set the seat backs do not move. These will flop back and forth by grabbing the top of the seat and shaking back and forth. Is this normal? I tried searching and the big faq to no success. Please help.

The movement forward 2-3 inches when locked is normal s far as I know.My 2
lt seats have always been like that since new.Why does it bother you? How else would you be able to get to the seatback release on the back of the headrest?

w/ the recliner lever on the side of the seat to tilt it forward and back to get to the release on the headrest not flopping forward and back...lol.. As far as bothering me it just doesn`t seem right to not lock into place, but hey thats me. I was mainly hoping to find out if this is normal or not.

I think it has something to do with protecting against seat breakage in the event somebody powers the seat rearward with it reclined excessively. If there wasn't some slack the seat could be damaged when it hit the bulkhead behind the seats.
