It's really just the internal GM engine prefixes or codes that have been used for many years going way back (L67, L88, LS5 etc.) and some have even been recycled such as LT1, LS6, LS7 etc.

Lighter, Stronger. As in, more power per weight and physical size than any comparable V-8. Also Latin for "kicks rice azz"

"Cadillac will replace the failed BLS with an all-new rear-drive model probably coming to the U.S. about 2011. It'll be a 3 Series-size sedan on a new, longitudinal engine rear-/all-wheeldrive platform. "

You made that up! Who the heck really knows, or for that matter cares. Remember the old 454's were also LS6's . So it doesn't have a d#*m thing to do with light weight or whatever. It's just what some dofus supply clerk decides what the coming nominclature or spare parts relative to the original manufacturing specifications could and might be is! Get it ??

True but I don't think that it's merely coincidence or by chance that some of these old names/codes (LS6, LS7, Z06 etc.) are being revived, there is clearly a sentimental/symbolic reason for some of them.

It stands for "long skirt",the block design on the "LS" series engines. The skirt extends down to enclose the main bearing caps, and is cross bolted to give each cap 6 bolts. This is part of the reason that the LS series engines hold together so well with forced induction. It is absolutely a beautiful design both to look at and in function.

Well if LS stands for "long skirt" then does LT stand for "less tight"??? I think it's the same as what do "M & M's" or many other product names mean ? Probably, nothing !

Luxury Sport
What Does LS Stand For? LS stands for Luxury Sport. Over time, though, the relevance of its original meaning has become less important, and LS has become known as the base model for many Chevy vehicles Yeah Yeah Im the serious one.

After all these years and no one has figured it out. It's not light speed....it's ludicrous speed!
