I am looking for a cam that won't suffer hot start idle issues. and isn't too lopey. I like the stock idle (or close to it.) I understand the performance/comfort tradeoff on a cam; looking for a good balance. I drive in traffic, although, not my daily driver.
How is the cheaTR cam? Other ideas? I would ike 400RWHP or more ( ) without getting lopey or giving up driving comforts, would like something that makes good torque down low.
The 224/224 .588/.588 cam is a very popular choice for what you want. We also like using and older style "split" cam 228/222 .588/.588 cam as well, and have seen great results with both cams. The split cams are hardly noticable at idle, the 224/224 cam is a little more lopey, but not by much. Both these cams see about 420rwhp on our Mustang dyno with headers and cold air intake.
The other option is a LPE GT11 cam. But the lift is so high on this cam that you really need a set of heads to get everything out of this cam. It sounds almost stock, and with heads we see about a 90-100rwhp gain at the tires.
Thanks for the replys. Mike, do those suffer from hot start issues at all? I don't plan on doing heads at this time. I am jus tlooking cam only? Where do these cams start to produce power? 3k and up?
Jack , How do you like the MTI Staelth II? What kind of power are you seeing and how is the idle?

I'd have to look back on the dyno sheets, but from my memory the 224/224 and the Split cam both make power from about 3200rpm and up. I have not had any feedback on hot start issues with these cams, so I'm assuming that there's not.
