My 05 C6 has, at times, honked 3 times when I shut the door, then the interior chimes like the lights are on when I open the door. What does this mean? I haven't researched the owner's manual yet. Could it be the fob battery is about shot?
If my car is running, and I get back in and close the door, it does the 3 honk thing. I have an 05 too. Not sure why it does this, and it doesn't happen often enough to start going throught he manual or DIC.
Not sure when it started doing it. Mine doesn't chime though. Just honks.
My 05 was doing funny things like this and I changed the battery in the fob and have not had a problem since. The battery in the fob of my other car is 9 years old and still works. The battery did check low.
'05's require a specific shutdown sequence; Shift to reverse (or Park), set parking brake, then turn the car off by pushing the lower part of the start/stop button, then exit the car with the FOB in your pocket.
The three honks your out is when the vehicle thinks you have left and it thinks there is a fob still inside. Rentering a running car could cause this since it thinks you opened the door to get out.
The FOB reminder is selctable on/off in the DIC options.
Once in a while it will beep in error, seems to be when the FOB is in my right pocket and I am close to the car walking forward - probably too sensitive. But its better to have that than the opposite - FOB in the car and it does not tell you.
I have an 06. It will honk 3 time if there is a fob in the car. My wife has a spare set in her purse. If I get out and shut the door it honks to tell me her fob is in the car!!! I shut it off on the dic.
When you stop the engine and get out of the car to pump gas, if you leave the door open, then get back in and close the door, the car "thinks" you left a fob in the car. If you have the DIC programmed to warn you about leaving the fob in the car, the car will honk to remind you.
Either turn off the fob warning, or else close the door when you get out of the car to pump gas.
