Obviously there is a lack of knowledge here of the forces involved in even low speed crashes. I saw immediately that the inability to securely tie down luggage is a major safety issue with this car. You crash into something at 20 mph and your air bag saves your life until the back of your head is crushed by your luggage flying forward. Not a pretty picture.
I've read about drivers being impaled through the seat backs of SUV's by sharp objects in a panic stop. Your concerns are valid IMO.
Most of us are carrying things like suitcases when traveling. I don't know if the seat backs are strong enough to withstand the impact of a fully packed suitcase flying forward from the cargo area at 60+ mph. I have an EV partition which I think would at least slow things down a bit and lessen the impact.
I think if anyone had ever been hurt by this unlikely scenario, we would have heard of it. I travel with my Vette all the time and if you don't pack it like a fool, there is no danger.
