Default Life without torque management....

I had TM removed from upshifts and power downshifts....and, wow.

wow.

The car scares me now. Feels like I added 75 hp, at least at the times when I or the car is shifting. MUCH easier to break loose from 1-2 and 2-3. The best way I can describe the difference is....my car used to slightly pause between shifts, as if to settle into the gear, then bleed the power on. Now, the car SURGES forward into the next gear. (note - I have around 425rwhp, and my best quarter time is 11.99).

I may be overreacting a bit, but it has me reconsidering my winter HP mods and leaning again towards a widebody kit and much larger rubber. I am DEFINITELY going to the track this week (weather permitting) and seeing if this makes any noticeable change in my quarter times. If I can keep it off the wall.

I'll probably run like this for another month, but when cold weather is here to stay, I'm turning it back on. It definitely makes these cars safer to drive.

Tq managment deletion does make a big difference. You will be ok with active handling though. Congrats on the performance gain.

just a question, and congrats on the new found power.

does the t/c a/h button still work? do you still have the different modes? (ie. all on, t/c off (comp mode), t/c a/h off (all off))

not sure if OP had his a6 tune done with HP tuners but on mine when they did the tm delete all aspects still worked. TM is also delted on d just as in s but tc and ah still operate same as before. Well worth doing for an a6

I think it all works, but I'll have to do some more testing. My biological active handling was kicking in alot, so I'm not sure if the mechanical/electronic active handling was in full force or not.

My tune was done by HP Tuners in a soon-to-be-released beta version. The current official version has TM deletes, but not the same ones. This is a HUGE difference.

How hard are shifts on normal automatic stop and go traffic with TM disabled? Smooth or abrupt?

Somewhere in between, but closer to smooth. Actually, for casual, non-sporty driving around, there's not a ton of difference. But that can be very deceptive - removal of TM brought to light how often I give it a little gas when turning a corner. Without TM, you really have to be gentle, or you might powershift down into first or second and possibly break the rear free.

No TM is probably a good think on a 1/4 mi track, but I'm thinking I'd probably want it in place on a road course...or at least a toned-down version of it. Not sure at this point if you can "tune" TM yet...it would be cool if you could, like have a slider bar in HPTuners between 0-100%.

Hey greentank i know the feeling i had my car tuned by Mike@Straightline and the car is crazy fast especially between the shifts after the TM removal. I just wish HP Tuners would come up with a fix for TM from a standing dead stop punch that is the only place that TM is evident in my car.I need a converter!!LOL

Safety, and then probably some wear and tear issues, but I'm not sure about the latter.

We used the SLP Predator on our 07 C6. It has the ZL435, and ZL465 tunes, which are awesome for removing TQ management, and increasing power over a stock tuner. The ZL435 tune is designed for a stock car, or car with basic bolt ons. It is more aggressive than the regular Diablo HP tune..but also well test on SLP's dyno. The 465 tune is what we run on our own car. It workd for a car with bolt on's, plus long tube headers.

This is important because this tune turns off your rear O2 sensors, so you will not get an SES light headers cause. Also the tune is designed for headers, and should give you 90-95% the power of a dyno tune, while also having a tangible object. So if you get a cam down the road, you can sell it for almost as much money as the tune for the cam will run. It can also raise shift point's, set fan controls, remove the skip shift function, and much more.

I know it is a little off topic...but The GTO and F-body crowd use these a lot, so I wanted to bring some attention to them. My car has responded great to this tuner and teh removal of TQ management!

We sell the tuners here if interested.
