Default How to Change Condenser ?

Does anyone know if changing the condenser in my 07 C6 is a simple task? I am a pretty good wrench, I was just wondering how easy of a job it is? Has anyone done it? Does anyone have any diagrams? I punched a hole in mine, and would like to change it myself if I can. Then I will take it, and get the system recharged. Thought and opinions wanted. Dealer quoted me $815 for parts and labor, but I can find the condenser for cheaper through a SV, and do the work myself. Thanks for the input guys.

i had the same problem. find a good radiator shop. i had my condensor repaired and system recharged for $362.00. If you want new check with GM parts direct. supporting vendor. he qouted a really good price on a new condensor. I was going to remove the condensor myself it looked fairly basic, but for the price i got. why bother. good luck.

I think that I am just going to replace mine. I would rather have a new one, than a fixed one. Thanks.

The condensor is easy to change. I usually take them out to do a cam swap then reinstall and charge the system back up. You should be able to swap it out easy.

If you dont have recharging equiptment just swing by a good shop, you'll want to make sure it gets a vacuum first to eliminate any moisture and be careful to not overcharge.

Cool. Sounds like I will be replacing it myself, and then get a recharge. Thanks.

Don't forget that when you replace a condenser there is a certain amount of oil that needs to be replaced in the system. Also, the 134A refrigerant uses a special oil (I can't remember, but I think it is PAG oil).

I will just take it to the dealer, and they can recharge it. They will know what to do.
