Default Halltech Stinger SSM Review

Just put on a Halltech Stinger on my LS2. After 40 minutes of forcing the damn air bridge into the filter, took it for a ride to see my results. Honestly, I didn't notice a difference as most do in SOTP. Oh well...Anyone else with the Halltech feel the same way?

The stock air filter assembly on our cars is much more efficient than the stock setup on the C5. When I added an aftermarket setup to my C5 there was a noticable improvment according to my SOTP meter. I did not feel the same amount of improvment when I installed my Halltech until I opened up the radiator shroud directly under the filter. Cold air (or more specifically, unheated air) makes a definite difference. I think Halltech makes a cold air assembly as an add-on to their intake. My modification of the radiator shroud was not as clean and professional as I would have liked, but it is not noticable from topside and I can "close" the opening if absolutely necessary. I have not had any water ingestion issues and have been through a couple of very heavy downpours. I do notice more sand and such in the engine compartment but nothing too critical.

Sorry, but all you're doing when installing the HALLTECH,SLP,BLACKWING is installing a big air filter. All that does is get more hot air from under the hood.Unless you drive around with your hood up all the time, you'll get zip!Get yourself a VARARAM,LPE,CALLAWAY or something like that and believe me,you'll feel the difference big time, and they're all in the same general area for price. And the above poster is correct, the stock setup ain't bad either!!
