Launch Vette from dead stop?
Hi, I have an 08 automatic coupe with paddles. What is the procedure to get the best take off out of the whole time with my new Vette. I have just stomped the gas pedal and that works, but I am sure there is a way for faster time results. Thanks, Ray
It isn't the base suspension. My base suspension A4, 3.15 rear 05 will roast the rear tires from an idle if I don't heat them up.
I have a base suspension 06 A6 and I can spin mine easily form a stop with TC on, and simply roast them with it off. As far as the best start goes, power brake to 12-1500 as others have said.
I dont know how so many people can't roast their tires in these cars....you ARE taking traction control off, correct?
Yeah, TC off for me. Though I must say, whether one can roast their tires or not, I dont think spinning/roasting them makes you faster off from a stop or rolling start. I have not been on a drag strip since I was a teen. Yet, in June in humid 90+ degree heat with a stock '07 C6 A6 (3K miles), I turned a 12.98 with no tire spin on my third and last run. Armed now with a 160 stat, free air mod and waiting for 50 degree weather, I am confident I will turn a 12.6 with no spin either. That's a good time for a LS2 A6. It might look and sound cool, but I dont think spinning or roasting makes one go faster on the street or track.
If you're at a track with sticky surface, you may have to experiment with that 1500 rpm range. Also, don't forget to drop the pressure of your rear tires to at least 25 psi and pump up the fronts to the max of 45-48.

No one said it made you go faster (although having some tire spin at the track DOES make you go faster). I was just saying that I find it hard to believe that people can go WOT from a stop and not spin the tires.
My 07 c6 a6 went 12.8 WITH tirespin on a hot houston day 3 weeks ago leaving at 3/4 throttle. If you arent spinning the tires at all then you arent building the rpms to where you want them quick enough.
Imagine leaving the line with 3;73 gears a 3000 stall converter and drag radials....quite a kick in the a--........resulting in 1.55 60 ft times................Goooooooooooooooo C6

Good advice, dropping the rear tire pressure is a must.
Looks like someones had a little experiance.

Yup the problem is you take the TC off and try to launch the car with as little tire spin as possible. It's funny it is so easy to type it but a bear to do......... You have to heat the tires, make sure you have the correct air pressure for the track conditions and then modulate the gas just right and then when you do it just right the damn rear kicks out when you shift into second
Mustang Cobra guys, not AC Cobra......he lost, I promise you....nailed it going about 20mph, went 1st, 2nd, 3rd, let off......I ASSUME the car was supercharged cause it was whining like a *****......I know what a supercharger sounds like, I assure you.....and I ain't gettin' no tickets street racing....me and my girl were coming home from sushi and it was for kicks up to the speed limit....
