you are looking a 8 man hours to do the job right. i got a tunnel plate setting in my shop that i never installed....i dont see a heat issue myself but i have dyno mated the whole car so....
I did it myself in a couple hours in the driveway.
A couple of hours. You must be some kind of fast. The corvette shop just quoted me 1 1/2 days, and a cool $1000 labor. I just started my headers/cats/xpipe install on Tuesday and I am at least 8 hours into it. Wiring the O2 sensors was not a quick as I hoped. Tommorow I just have to torque down everything, take it off jacks, and clean up. Another 2 hours max.

1000 dollars is insane.
Headers are a 5-8 hour job depending on how much you know about what you're doing.

Hope they talk dirty to you first. It tool longer to get the car on and off jackstands than it did to do the work.

For those of us that are pretty careful and thoughtful (ie slow), 5-6 hours is a good ballpark. Strongly recommend having a friend help you, even better one who's done a similar job before and will check you before you over torque the header bolts in your ALUMINUM BLOCK. Don't forget that part. I don't think there's an easier car to install headers on out there, though. Do it yourself if you have any basic skills at all. If you've changed your oil, you can do this. Just get a buddy to help and don't rush.
I just did a set of Kooks this Friday on my car using my hoist. It was a solid 4 hour job to do and that included me having to drive to town to have the mid pipes adjusted. Kooks didn't expand the slip joint enough so I had to run to the muffler shop and have then loosened up.

Exactly. I took some heat here for saying the job took me about 10 hours. So I was glad you confirmed what took me a fair amount of extra time. I agree the midpipes were too tight for both the high flow cats and the corsa over the axle pipe. I had to get an expander and work on both ends of the midpipe for quite some time, not to mention the trip to and from the parts store.
The $1000 in labor quote was from a Chevy dealership that specializes in Corvettes. Too high you say. I absolutely agree. And that is why I took the leap and installed them myself. Way glad I did. I got to take my time and do the install as perfectly as I could. I don't get that level of job satisfaction very often.

I sent Kooks an email about the pipes not fitting glad Im not the only one I guess, that does suck big time who ever does quality control on that needs a smack how hard is it to test slide them over each other?

I called Kooks after my 'test slide' failed miserably. They said the pipes could be 'finessed' into place. There was no finessing in my garage involving those pipes, I assure you.
I have the Borla Stingers on my 06. No headers. My question is would headers be worth the investment with regard to added performance?
Absolutely!! The additional HP and more importantly mid range torque is a great kick in the pants.

You're not alone, we usually have fitment problems with Kooks which runs into additional time, which is one of the reasons we recommend LG so highly. We've never had a problem with fitment or installation with LGs. They go in right the first time, never any leaks or "tweaking" necessary, and are as solid as OEM pipes. We've actually had quite a few customers come in with Kooks to swap them out for LGs and swear by the better performance numbers.

Im with you not in my shop. I have a pretty well outfitted shop as well not just in my garage however I don't have an exhaust machine. I took my torches heated up the section cherry red and tried to "finess" it on there was no way in hell they were almost size to size fit. Its not that big of a deal to have to expand them but why **** people off by not taking 1/2 second longer to expand it enough to fit or keep a die handy to test fit them on?
I agree that perhapse the LG's make more power they sure are quite a bit longer then the kooks however I didn't want to spend over 2k canadian to get a set of headers up here, I happily paid ALOT less for my complete catted kit from a forum member that was selling them brand new to get a Z.
