It's your decision and as allways if you go with the majority it is a safe decision. Safe doesn"t allways win races. Sometimes you should think outside the box. Iv'e had the Vararam and I was pleased with the results and now I have the BPP Vortex and I am at least equally pleased. The Vortex is built better and is a better looking unit(subjective). One piece carbon fiber air bridge, 100 square inches of air being forced into a filter with a built in vortex and it comes with a smooth coupler that replaces stock accordian(not subjective). Just my two cents
Just to confuse you a little more...You should also look at the BPP Vortex cai. Nice quality, with a huge 100 square inch opening for some nice cool air. This is an enclosed unit made from cabon fiber. The unit is enclosed in a large box that isolates the outside air and directs it into the cone shaped filter with a built in vortex. Very sexy unit that seems to do a good job. When compared to the Vararam the Vortex will more likely insulate you from water ingestion because of the location of the 100 square inch opening(high and out of the way). The Vortex was installed on my 08 LS3 and gave me .2 of a second and 3mph gain over my stock LS3 intake with the Vettair cold air inlake. Good luck in your decision.
but no ram air. any pressure from the air dam goes thru the radiator.
Same here in hot Florida summer driving my temps are the same after the Vararam install.
but you aren't road racing it. If you guys just want a thrill for the quartermile, thats great, but I"m not buying a product that can't stand up to racing.

Well i dont hardcore race my Vette, so i cant prove what the VR does in that case. But on longer Vette cruises with some hard driving i notice no ill effects from the VR.
Bang for the buck is KN aircharger. Vararam plastic is brittle IMO. Halltech is over priced. I like the KN. Fits great. I have a LS3 and was not going to spend over $500 for a intake when the KN is a little over $300
?? How do you come to find it do anything. The K&N pulls hot air and doesnt have some interesting benefits:
The Vararam and callaway both pull cold air.
The Vararam and halltech both have the LS7 MAF sensor option and can be scaled to the LS2 engine. The stock maf sensor is a bottleneck and the 103mm halltech and 100mm vararam version both eliminate this.
The vararam has a speed ram air benefit. I would use the LS7 version vararma which is track proven to give you 3 tenths in the 1/4.
None of these units do anything for you on the dyno since the stock unit flows in excess of 1000cfm so if there isnt a bigger MAF, cold air, and ram air benfit, dont change you air cleaner.
The Radiator gets most air from the air dam. Vararam is not blocking
anything,
plus the latest model is very good quaility! All these forum people can't be wrong in saying most performance is Vararam.
Go to there Website they do tests againest most all intakes and they chew them up! and NObody disputes it cause it's real! I used to doubt it too untill I have had one for a while!
I've seen some discouraging things about the quality, but after reading an issue by someone roadracing with the intake and VR's non attempt at making a broad fix, plus the fact that the breathless intake works out cheaper than the VR, I will go with breathless.
