Well if you don't want to cut anything, then that rules out the Vararam.

I strongly agree with Dennis, Vararam with the precut shroud. It is the only true cold air and complete system on the market with a loooong list of testimonials and proven results. I have used it on a C5, and now my C6. For me there is only on CAI Vararam....

Bang for the buck is KN aircharger. Vararam plastic is brittle IMO. Halltech is over priced. I like the KN. Fits great. I have a LS3 and was not going to spend over $500 for a intake when the KN is a little over $300

I've had both the Halltech (cold air add on as well) and now the VR. Halltech, no gains at the track. VR, consistent .2 and 2mph in the 1/8th. My vote goes for the VR

It's all about cold air. The problem is all most every one dyno’s with the hood open. If people would dyno with the hood closed like you drive it, they would see a big gain over a lot of the so called "cold air" intakes. The Vararam does a good job of getting cold air.

I had the VR on my c5 for quite a while, until I changed my SC setup and could use it anymore. The old C5 style VR was not as solid a piece as the C6 style. I just put the VR on my 08 C6 and find the quality of this unit to be VERY high!!

I had a Halltech and thought it was ok.....till the filter popped off due to the airbridge deforming.

I now run a Vararam and am very pleased with it. Bought the precut shroud so if I want to go back to stock I have all the parts required.

Put it this way, upgrading the intake with a top breather gives you a few extra hp and a lifelong resusable filter. Buying a true cold air intake gets you consistant performance gains, increased hp, and a lifelong reusable filter.

Later, if you decide to go back to the stock system, does everything go back in position, without trouble & look same as original ? I have 07.

Just to confuse you a little more...You should also look at the BPP Vortex cai. Nice quality, with a huge 100 square inch opening for some nice cool air. This is an enclosed unit made from cabon fiber. The unit is enclosed in a large box that isolates the outside air and directs it into the cone shaped filter with a built in vortex. Very sexy unit that seems to do a good job. When compared to the Vararam the Vortex will more likely insulate you from water ingestion because of the location of the 100 square inch opening(high and out of the way). The Vortex was installed on my 08 LS3 and gave me .2 of a second and 3mph gain over my stock LS3 intake with the Vettair cold air inlake. Good luck in your decision.

I'm very glad I stumbled across this. As it's gonna be quite a while until I get my S/C, I was first gonna go with Halltech since I didn't want to cut anything with a Vararam. But now that I see you can get a pre-cut shroud, I may go with this instead.
