This is one of those jobs you probably don't want to do yourself. Too many specialized tools to set the gears properly. Not worth the risk. I would pay a professional to do the swap, or just do a rear exchange. Its easier to swap the rear than to mess with the gearing and get it right.
Can someone show a link as to how to change the ring and pinion in my 2005 M6? Thank you!
This is one of those things, If you have to ask, likely you shouldn't be doing it yourself. Call Unitrax, http://gounitrax.com/ They do them all of the time.
Richmond and some of the larger gear companies run the new set in a Gleason machine and etch the specs onto the new gears. Most of the OEM gears do not have the specs on them. Couple this with tolerances in the ring gear carrier and housing and you have a guessing game that can be both frustrating and time consuming

Seriously, Do yourself a favor and do an exchange for the entire diff. It is much easier and you can do it yourself over the weekend. Here are some excellent instructions from CajunDude. http://www.cajundude.com/differential.htm

Props to Jason at gulfcoastperformance dot com in Houston. AKA cajundude, he did my gear swap in the OEM case with hardened 4.10's and hardened drivers shaft. I still have the OEM gears and shaft. I have about 1500 miles on the new gears and am pleased.
His shop is an all service shop. A guy from shrevesport was getting a textrilla installed when I picked mine up.
With @ 430 rwhp and the gears, I did 167 mph in the texasmile drag race 10/06/07. Some have said that's Z06 speeds Whatever;;; they did great and very planted as I was increasing speed in 5th when the mile marker went by, I wanted to keep going, however you really have to brake as you have 3 turns to get back on the return ramp.
