Default C6 rear diff power limit

Hey guys I was wondering how much rwhp and rwtq a stock c6 rear diff can handle with a dte strut brace and coilovers which eliminate wheelhop. I heard that it's the torque that kills the diff. If I'm planning on getting an sts turbo kit that will be putting out 520rwtq, would I need to get a heavy duty differential or would the stocker handle it?

Stocker handle the power as long as you don't launch it hard.
I would love to get a HD diff but I can't justify it since there's nothing wrong with mine.

We do not typically attach a power rating to any of our heavy duty driveline components or differentials for a few very specific reasons.

The "horsepower" output of an engine is *NOT* what damages drivetrain parts, torque and application does however. Also, there are nearly an infinite amount of variables present that one needs to consider when selecting a driveline component and the power rating is only a small factor in the overall equation.

Therefore, shops that put a simple power capacity rating on a driveline component is not only incomplete/foolish for the builder, but it's also misleading to the customer, because based on that simple, inaccurate logic, the customer may not get the proper differential recommendation they really need for their intended application correctly the first time. "Guessing" at someone else's expense is not what we do here.

Additionally, "rating" the input capacity of any sort of driveline component is more often than not, a marketing strategy only meant to sell parts, in our professional opinion, without giving full regard to the customer's real needs based on how they drive the car, application of use and what the intended usage is for that car might be.

Also, when making the decision to purchase a high performance differential, one needs to take into consideration how much power the car currently has, how much it will have, the intended usage for the car, if the car will be taken to the track...ever. If the car has wider/stickier compound tires compared to stock, what type of tires you'll be using and if the driveline will use a differential strut or not.

Lastly, plan to experience wheel hop, because unfortunately, (which we *HIGHLY* discourage) most Corvette's do to some extent if *ANY* of the driveline suspension components are left stock, (i.e. control arm bushings, shocks and alignment) so add strengthening options accordingly to provide a cushion for that.

In closing, we suggest to our past, present and future customers to build the strongest driveline you possibly can within your budget and drive the car accordingly based on the options you chose. One can *NEVER* have too much driveline strength for any vehicle platform.

Hope that helps a bit.
