Default Power falls off

I have an 06 C6 with the standard transmission. It seems to run out of power at 5700 rpm in all gears. It is totally stock. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks.

Sounds like you may have a problem depending on your interpretation of "runs out of power". Does it completely stop pulling, falls on its face...or just not as strong?

Redline is at 6500 and the fuel cut-off kicks in at 6600, but until then it should keep pulling (albeit not as strong as in the 4000 range). Mine pulls all the way to the cut-off and then just dies as it hits the rev limiter.

I would suggest either a trip to the dealer or find someone who knows Corvettes like a tuner or even another member on here that can give you a second opinion. Good luck with it.

Does sort of depend on interpretation, but peak torque is way down in the middle of the power band, which does seem sort of funny if you're used to a Lotus or something where its much nearer to redline.

Probably the only fix for this is more cam.

Just not as strong. I was wondering. is it normal to have power fall off like this on a stock ls2.

that is right about where the torque starts to fall off on my dyno sheet. The curve is pretty flat and then falls below 350 ft/lbs just after 5700 rpm. it is still important to run it to redline so that when you shift you are in the fat part of the curve when you start out the next gear....IMO. At 6500 rpm my car still makes 300+ ft/lbs around 310 or so.

I suspect you are feeling the torque let off a bit.

I feel the drop if doing a 2nd or 3rd gear punch. I attribute it to the tq band dropping fast after about 4500 rpm. Looking at my dyno sheet (keep in mind I'm about 40hp/40rwtq over a stock LS2) I'm at nearly 380rwtq at 4600rpm, by the time I reach redline it's just below 300rwtq.

That is why it's so noticable, an 80rwtq drop in a nearly 2000rpm range up top will be noticable. In 1st gear the car revs fast enough to make it unoticeable.

Above dyno info was done at Cartek on a dynojet

Based on the other replies I'd yes it's normal...although I've never really noticed it, but then again I like to short shift.

Sounds like there might be a CAI and headers in your future!

The power falling off is noticeable in first gear also. All those goodies like CAI, headers, y-pipe, cat back, and cam are next on my list. There are so many choices out there, that i just have to make the right ones. My 01 C5 has all of that stuff plus a FAST intake, and it goes like a scallded jack rabitt
