Just want to thank ShockerRacing for his detailed instructions and to Corvette Garage for expressing the cutting template to me so that I could do the install this weekend.
So this Sunday I did the install and with all the good advise that I got it went pretty much went without a hitch and I got the Vararam installed in about 2 hours, with the cutting and recutting taking the longest time. I took the car out and what a difference the intake makes at speed, what a great product.

Yup, the faster you go the more hp you generate, damn things feels like a turbo was added on. I got home after testing the car and I had this Vararam smile which a bigger smile then the Vette smile.
i should be receiving my vararam today in the mail... any tips/shortcuts in cutting the shroud?? what tool did you use to cut? thanks.
I used a utility knife with a fresh blade in it. Once you tape the template down, make sure the dotted line is on the frame rail, the two clips at the bottom will have to be cut also. Go slow especially at the top as your condensor is right behind the shroud. To do this part I had the blade only 1/2 way out. Half way through the cut I changed the blade to the fresh side which made it very easy to cut.
DO NOT USE A DREMEL TO CUT. I intially thought that it would be faster and cleaner to use my dremel with the flex shaft but due to the speed of the blade the plastic melted and was very jagged compared to the cut which you can shave down if necessary.
GO SLOW, carefully slip the Vararam in as it can hit the condensor.
Good luck and wait till you take her out after the install. You will have that Vararam smile also.
tried installing the vararam tonight with a buddy of mine. a/c condensor got punctured. ugh. now gotta get that replaced. was about 95% done with the install. =(
anyone know where i can pick up an a/c condensor on the cheap? best price i've found is $220 from a forum vendor.

Ouch, sorry to hear you punctured the condensor, how did it happen? The reason for asking is that we all learn from others mistakes. Hopefully what you did wrong will save someone else from making the same error.
it was after we got done with the initial cutting. test fitted it several times and cut a little by little around the edges and the bottom.
my buddy was trying to shave one of the sides to get the intake to fit better, and his hand (and knife) kinda got away from him. be extra careful when making smaller cuts since there are no areas to hold on to, and the shroud gets a bit flimsy after you've made the big hole in the middle =(
YOU NEED TO PROTECT THE CONDENSOR AT ALL TIMES!!! This is why you need to cover it with a board or something solid!!!
i know i know... we were so careful with it up until the very end... guess we got a little excited and rushed it a little...
for those who are considering doing the vararam, don't let this discourage you... just take your time with the cutting, and you should be fine. or you can get the precut shroud and avoid this matter altogether!

When i installed my VR i removed the shroud. It was a bitch getting it out but easy getting it in. I subsequently removed the bottom part of the shroud because the dotted line on the template was a bit confusing
and i simply cur it off the template . Even so i still had to open the shroud more to accomodate the air box. I also ussed the VR spacer
and that works. Will be posting more on that.
As far as the condensor is concerned when you put the new one in
dont forget the A/C system will have to be leak checked and a VAC
pulled on the system before the refrigerant and some oil is added. Very
important because moisture will wreck your aA/C system. Make sure
a competent, qualified person does this. VERY IMPORTANT.
