Default Serious Engine Upgrades

I post this in the General Discussion forum, but I should have posted it here. Sorry mods.

So I've been saving up for a while and I'm about to drop some serious money into my VR C6. Tell me what you think. I'm totally open to suggestion. I've been wearing out the search button for a long time and think I have found what to do to get the desired effect.

1. Sound Deaden the interior of the car. I aslo have a small stereo system going in.
2. Bassani Exhaust
3. Long 1 7/8 Headers - not sure which ones??? Need advice
4. Vortec Supercharger
5. 4.10 gears
6. B&M short shifter
7. Wide Body Conversion with Michelin PS2 tires. Don't need run flats. Can always get a tow where I drive.
8. CCW chromed 505a wheel. (Don't want to fool with Polished Al.)
9. Put a C5 spring on the clutch. (I find the stock real grabby) Anything else I can do for that????
10. Tune

Will I need a new clutch for all this? What are some other mods that need to be done to bloster the drivetrain if need be? I'm going to be getting the work done at Corvettes of Houston.

My goal was to make the C6 civil when needed and a beast when I want. I think the stingers with the headers will be too loud for me. I know that this is a lot of money but i'm ok with that. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Hardened output shaft and DTE transmission brace would be a good idea as well.

In MHO you might want to reconcider a 4.10 rear end in combination with the Vortec as you will have serious traction problems even with the 3.42.
Also, you realize that CCW doesn't chrome their wheels. I would also recommend going to a 3" exhaust as you will be moving a lot more air thru the engine.
Also upgrade to a cam and springs tuned to FI specs.

I knew they didn't chrome their wheel. I try not to drive in inclement weather. If its raining I won't drive it too work. But whenever I can drive it I do. So I might consider just leaving them polished and cleaning them once a week. I usually clean the car on Sunday.

How much do those run. Thanks for your input. I want to make sure I do all the necessary mods to make sure the car can handle the power I'm going to give it.

If you would fill out your profile it would help us know more about the car you have.
CCW does send them out for chroming as somebody posted yesterday about that.
As for the clutch, you can see what I did and it was cheaper for me to do everything at once rather than wait till the stock clutch went.

The stock rear end will work fine unless you are racing or otherwise dumping the clutch. Wheel hop and power shifting are the main problems.

If I was going to dump that kind of cash in my C6 at one time I think I'd just trade it in on a Z06. JMHO. I'll have 14k in mods in mine soon but I spread it out over about 9 months. Of course, knowing me if I picked up a Z06 I'd end up dumping a bunch of cash it to, so carry on.

I would contact one of the reputable shops on here that do these mods all the time & listen to them so you end up with a car that matches your goals & expectations. Where are you located? Let us know & we can reccomend the right shop close to you. You will have a Z06 killer when you are done for sure.

I think I'm going to keep my stock rear end. I'm not going to be dumping the clutch all the time and I like the lines on the car as they are.

I'm in Houston. I planned on using Corvettes of Houston. They were rated car corvette fever magazine as one of the 100 trusted shops in the US. I don't know if that means anything, but from what I hear they are a reputable shop.

Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming!

I went with the APS Twin-Turbo on my 06/A6, also a 315 gear set. Install done by Dynotech in Fort Wayne, Indiana. One suggestion be sure you like the Bassani exhaust I have that also and you hear it ALL THE TIME.

Thanks. Reason I asked was because the manual would be tuned for more rwtq than would the auto.

I'm going to try and listen to the Bassani. The entire interior will be sound deadened too. I was also considering the Borla touring. With the headers and all I was thinking that would get the sound I'm looking for. I really dig the stinger (from the clips that I've watched) but I think with the headers they'll be too loud for me.

What about your funny feeling. I like the *** end of the car as is. I was thinking about the wide end for more traction, but if it's really not all that necessary then I won't do it and save some money.

I went with the wide body "*** end" because I wanted to run 345s for traction without the tires/wheels hanging out.
345s do make a difference traction wise, over a 305 set up. Talk with CCW and find out how much they can give you in the way of offset. I remember previous posts from guys with CCW 19x12 wheels in the rear with minimum stick out. Then you get the Z06 splash guards for the rear.
