I haven't had any problems..I guess I just know what gear I'm in all the time. Although, it might be kind of cool if it showed you on the HUD or dash somewhere. It seems simple enough, and if people don't like it make it so you can turn it off.

I was at SEMA yesterday, and I saw an illuminated gear shift **** with an indicator..if your interested, check it out. Its basically just the shift ****, and it "learns" the positions. Just need to change the **** and run power. Seems easy enough to install.

I'd like a gear indicator too. My tranny occasionally goes to 5th instead of reverse on shut down. It tells you when you try and exit, since I have an '05, but I'd rather know ahead of time.

There is significant variability between individual cars' trannys and clutches, at least with early C6's.
