I like the sound of the FlowMaster but undecided if I prefer the look of the stock tips. Has anyone had the stock tips welded up to the FLowmaster mufflers? If so did it change the exhaust note? I don't want to quite it down if anything it could be a little louder.
I thought about doing that, but after seeing the quad tip American Thunder kit Flowmaster has, I went that route. They do look and sound awesome. I did notice a slight pick up in power. As far as sound, there is little drone at highway speed in my automatic, but it is a little loud (wife says) when I accerate through 1100 to 1500.
That is a problem as my wife does not like loud, I am wondering if I go with D50 Flowmaster and the stock tips how the sound would be and if there would be droning.
I installed Dynomax cans and kept the stock C6 tips because IMO oversized tips look a bit pretentious.
The stock C6 tips may stop a bit of the volume or at least not amplify the sound like trumpet shaped large tips tend to do, however any possible drone would come more from the frequency of the pipes, not the tips.
Automatics seem to be more at risk of drone than manuals, so I also had an X-pipe added. Result: low volume, deep sounding idle, noticeable muscle-car acceleration and low volume, deep sounding cruise which I attribute to the X-pipe.

The Quad tips look good and are stainless steel. You can (and I do) polish them up every once in a while to look good. One thing nice about Flowmasters is that it's one of a few you can here at the drag strip. Not real loud like open pipes, but loud enough to actually make a filmed noise (on camera) run down the strip. All others sound like a WHIIIISH not a rumble.
I also put on the American Thunder Flowmaster quad tips.
The link below is the best price I could find and right now they have
free shipping ( basically what made this site the best at the time ).
They sound great and look factory.
That is the best price. I just bought the single tip catback, and Summit Racing matched that price for me. I needed it shipped overnight, and Summit could do that fairly inexpensive.
I went with flowmasters and I found out that they have great customer service. I damaged a pipe and they helped me out without making me jump through a bunch of hoops.
The sound is perfect and I like the look of the quad tips. Price good too. Yes ,some drone but not to bad. Over 1800 rpm and it is smooth and a powerfull sound. WOT and you know they are doing their job.
