I would like my radar detector to come on and go off automatically does any one out there know the right way of doing this from the ignition or any other means, I know I am being lazy but the wife has one heck of a time remembering to turn it off and while I have not returned to a dead battery yet I feel it is not too far away.
Thanks in advance CHIEF

I used an "add a circuit" fuse get up I got from an auto store. I think I used the heated seat circuit. It was in the box in the passenger foot well. Works great and only comes on when the ignition is on.
PS I think there is also power in the rear view mirror, I am sure someone who used that will chime in with that info.

Reason: Added info
Thank you for the help, I could not find the add a fuse thing so I just increaded the 10 amp original fuse with a 15 amp and soldered a piece of wire to it, then ran it to where i needed it, thank you again.

Not sure if I read your post correctly, but if you replaced a 10 amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse - that's a bad idea. In a current overload, you could burn wires in that circuit before the fuse would be able to trip.
Thank you wish i would have found that first, i will probably order one but in the mean time i have installed a fuse on the detector circuit as well, i just need to get a 2 amp fuse right now i have a 10 so it help but might blow both still, thanks for link.

There is a switched power lead in the rear view mirror connector which can be easily accessed. If I remember correctly the +12 is pink and the ground is black.
Someone on this board has published instructions a long time ago. Do a search for radar detector wiring. There is also someone who sells a ready made wire with the proper terminations or you can get the parts from someplace like the Radio Shack for about 3 bucks. Installation takes about 30 seconds.
Well this is the finished product. I just used an old phone card, soldered two pieces of wire to the appropriate phone wire ends, and pushed them into the back of the RV mirror power connector, which I used from the invisacord picture. Thank you all for the help it works like a champ and no wires to run under, over, around the interior.
