I agree with the t-stat first because it won't require a tune. Of course the t-stat will be of no real benefit during cooler (winter) weather. But if you are going to install headers in the future, you will require another tune to deal with the increased air flow and fuel mixtures, plus the rear o2 sensors. My point here is you may not want to pay for a tune twice if you know headers are in your future. I was very hesitant to do the headers due to warranty issues and resale. I finally decided I was going to keep the car for a long time and I could live with both of those issues. I very much enjoyed intalling my Kooks headers and Corsa Sports myself. Got the tune, tstat, and vararam. I am extremely pleased with the sound and performance. I may actually leave the car with this setup for awhile since it is a daily driver and I just can't justify the next logical step of cams, heads, and ported intake anytime soon. I smile from ear to ear everytime I start off in 1st, go WOT and the rpm passes 4000. The sound (to include the 'burble/popping' during deceleration) is not for everyone, but it is for me.

My headers certainly gave a SOTP increase and was verified at the track. Bested my best 1/8 mile run by .3 and 3 mph after my header install. Worth every dime IMO, from power to sound. I have Kooks 1 3/4" long-tubes.

Get ready to buy wider rear tires too ..............

On 11/01/07, the car dyno'd 379 hp w/ 387.2 torque. And this, with some trace remnants of 89 oct being picked up by the computor at LG Motorsports so LG couldn't really do a good tune on the system. The base run was 359 hp and 343.3 torque. Is there a difference ? You bet ! This coming Tuesday I plan on taking the car back to LG so that they can re do the tune as by then I will have deffinately gotten all the 89 oct gas out of the tanks. Needless to say, there is a certain gas station in Midlothian, TX that I will no longer buy gas from.

Any noticeable difference in header primary sizes? 1 3/4 or 1 7/8?

Definatly a SOTP gain with a tune...without who knows. Depends on how sensitive your butt is. Our car felt much stronger after the Kooks headers and SLP 465 tune.

I forgot about that difference too. Stock to Headers/Corsa Z06 exhaust and K&N intake without a tune was .4 and 4mph quicker.

Yeah right.....

I own Kooks 1 3/4 which were removed to test a set of the LG's.

The difference is day and night. The low end TQ is where the difference is unless you are a peak HP man in which I agree, there is no difference. In back to back dyno's they have show less than 1hp at peak and 25 rwtq in the 3500-5000 range which is what makes a street car a road warrior.

I dont want to get into a header war here. I will be doing a thread all on its own with no axe to grind. I want the faster parts on my car. My car was having issues in the 3k-4k range from having the L92 heads installed. Now the car lights up second so violently at any rpm even once heat soaked and I had wheel hop going into 3rd. With a 50 shot (in 3rd gear)it spins out to redline the second I hit it. It used to stick 3rd on a 100shot. You cant feather the throttle on the bottle so my car is, in effect, slower since I cant use nitrous now.....

If you need some dyno comparrisons here are a few:

http://lgmotorsports.com/gallery/thu...page=1&sort=dd

I still own the Kooks and would certainly put them back on if the LG's werent better. They are for sale. Watch for my thread on the review of the LG install and dyno.

American Racing Headers here. Picked up 24hp and 29ftlbs torque. SOTP was positive.
Careful on the A6 though. I like the performance but the header, ring, ting, tin box, or whatever sound you want to call it is distracting to me. Large throttle modulations sound great though.
