After being parked awhile, I recently returned and could not unlock the Vette. I gained entry w/ the key near the rear license plate thru the trunk, but the car would not start or recognize the fob...TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE. Had to have a tow and the car is currently at the dealer awaiting replacement of the "fob receiver" (according to the dealer's diagnosis).
I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles in other vehicles and never heard of this before. While I appreciate the theft deterrent features, it is inconceivable that any car would be solely dependent on a gadget (like a fob) that could so easily malfunction without having being able to overide this feature and jumpstart the vehicle.
I did a search and cannot find anyone else who has experienced this. Any and all ideas and suggestions appreciated!
How long were you parked? I once forgot to put my '07 Z in reverse when I parked it for the night. I only had a couple hundred miles on the car. The next day, my car was completely dead. I called a tow truck, and my car would not take a jump the battery was so dead. I had my car towed to the Chevy dealer where they recharged the battery. You will have people on this board tell you that the '07 does not have to be parked in reverse gear, and that it was only the earlier models that had this problem. All I know is that since this happened to me, I always put my car in reverse when I park it. I have never had another problem with the electrical system.

Mine is an '06 MZ6...perhaps this is the answer for my dead battery...So it has to be parked in reverse.
Thanks!
Had same problem, parked 3 days, dead, charged battery, finally started, brand new car, 9 miles! On tricle charger now!
If you only have 9 miles I would say your battery has never been fully charged. Take that sucker out for a 100 mile cruise. It is true that the battery does draw down but I have measured it with a digital volt meter and from what I can see (and others report similar findings - do a search on the topic), you should be able to let it sit for up to 3 weeks without a charger. If not, you have an issue that needs service.
