Corvette Oil

Just ordered a new vette with LS3 motor. Does anybody know what the best oil to use in the engine would be? Synthetic or not, any particular brand of oil better that all others?

Oh NO,,,,, not this thread again..

Only synthetic in a vette, Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Penzoil, Amsoil, Red line, everybody will chime in on what is best and why. Change it often if u beat on her and any of those should be fine.

Let the mods begin:

They come with Mobile one since at least the 97 C5. I have used it in all my Vettes,(and everthing else also) No problems!

IMO use the GM recommended motor oil...Mobil 1 5W30. There are many, many threads on the subject it you want to explore the subject further...just do a search.

Welcome! What does it say on the oil cap, use that.

I'm using what came in it factory stock -- Mobil 1 5w-30 Synthetic with an AC Delco stock filter.

I switched all of my C6's fluid's over to RP products. I don't know why so many stick with the garbage GM puts in there.

Royal Purple XPR is the best motor oil i have ever used.

ANY Brand of oil that you trust in 5W30 that meets the GM4718M spec...
Only Fully synthetic oils meet it....
that list includes:

Regular priced synthetics

Castrol Syntec
Mobil 1
Quaker Horsepower
Pennzoil Platinum

Exotic/Boutique - Premium priced oils

Ammsoil
