Just took delivery of my '08 JSB vert a few weeks ago. This is my first car with paddle shift. I can't seem to get the hang of how best to use paddle shift. I get best performance from auto mode. Any suggestions / tips on how best to use paddle shift?
Auto seems quicker than sport on take off if I don't use the paddle and down shift to first and therein lies my problem - knowing when to hit the paddle and getting use to the delay.
I've found I like to shift it similar to a manual; that is to say that I ease up on the throttle a little, shift up and hit the throttle again. Same thing for down shifting with the exception of adding a little throttle (just like down shifting in a stick. You will find that your ears are you best friend on this caper - it sounds right when you do it right - if that makes sense. Additionally, one drawback I did notice is the fact that it won't shift in corners - either downshift when entering or upshift when exiting. I think the system is a kick and much more user friendly than the autostick on my wife's Dodge Daytona.

i do the same. you have to be carefull when shifting from 1st to 2nd due to the delay though. i sometimes get into the throttle a little to quick/much and really "chirp" the tires. this happened to me a couple of times at about 200 to 500 miles during break-in . now at 1,830 miles and no issues - yet.

Maybe i am missing something here.....
when using this technique.... you achieve faster acceleration apposed to leaving it in "S" and letting it shift automatically???

no you aren't missing anything. this is just the way we drive "normally" (or as you say to "impress the ladies"). if you want the quickest WOT just put it in "S" and have at it without touching anything.
