Default TPMS question

I have searched the forum for awhile and found many posts about the TPMS sensors and how to reset them ect.. What I would like to verify is that it appears to me that I would have to have the tires dismounted to remove the sensors? Can you get the sensors out without completely removing the tire?

Thanks
Bob

Can you get them out and back into another wheel at home without removing the wheels from the rim? Do you need any special tools?

Thanks
