Looking to install an Oil Catch Can. I have seen 2 different kinds out there and can''t decide which one is the best for me. I am not sure of the names of the products, but one is a really nice machined and polished box that mounts to the right side apron of the fender, and the other one is a cylinder that mounts vertically to a bracket off the front of the engine. Can anyone tell me about what they are using and if there are any pros or cons?
Thanks for the input. How hard is it to get the oil out? Can you just recycle it back into the engine or are you better off just getting rid of it?
Either way, there won't be too much oil. I only had about 1/8 of an inch in the can after 500 miles. That included some high revs at the 1/4 mile track.
You can suck it out with a turkey baster [now that Thansgiving is over ], or you can take the can off to empty, its easy to install.
.
I bought one from this forum vendor.
A catch can has no real moving function, it just catches oil before before it sneaks into the intake manifold.
I'm happy with this one. It looks good and I checked it after about 500 miles, there was some oil in it.
Willfulone has great product. It looks great - actually enhances the detail of the engine bay, is easy to mount, and has a valve on bottom to drain. Different colors to chose from also.
I have the one sold by the venders here on the forum. The problem I have is that it is too long. When mounted to the block it sits directly above the heater hoses and makes any draining difficult.
I have used the one produced by AMW and like it's shorter sizing. They're getting pricey and I didn't find their site using google.
The one from Billet Prototypes looks good and also provides the needed space to drain.
