Default Halltech or Lingenfelter CAI

Which one puts out more power? Both look like quality pieces.

Halltech will still suck most of it's air from the engine bay. The Vette air scoop with the Halltech will cool down the intake air, but not like any of the true CAI's.

I have the Halltech with Vette air CAI, and was very disappointed to see my IATs at the dragstrip were still 40 degrees above ambient for the first half of the 1/4.

I am trying to come up with a clean way to block the engine bay air from the Halltech and force it to use the air coming in from the Vette air scoop, since I don't feel like dropping another $400 on a vararam.

Check out the Cold Air setup on our website (a forum member spent some real time coming up with this awesome solution)

Actually, you will see the same results with a bottom breather. The problem is heat soak to the MAF housing from sitting at the line.

A tip that I gave Ranger. Pack the MAF housing with Ice until you are ready to Stage, then take it off, and button up.

Ranger claimed .2 just from this tip. It stops the intense heat soak which saps timing beginning at 84 degrees F.

The mod on my site, is actually not too extreme, and will isolate the intake vestibule area from heat.

Another way to cure this (butt ugly way), is to wrap the radiator hose below the bridge with heat shielding and also the bottom of the intake bridge.

I thought of fabricating something similar using the Vette air scoop. Another option is to enclose the haltech filter in some kind of sealed housing attached to the vette air. Kind of like the vararam but with a much better build quality.

I can't say one is better than another but I will say...I'm pleased with my Lingenfelter CAI.

You just described the BPP Vortex CAI. Look and compare before you buy any CAI.
