The answer is likely yes on all counts...though the part about feeling the power gains is just that, it feels quicker/faster according to those that have owned/driven both but the 1/4 mile times for the few stock ones that have run thus far still have the '08 about even or maybe even slightly slower than the track times that many of the '05 - '07 cars have posted.
Now is it worth the cost difference of getting a seriously discounted '07 versus a less discounted '08? Only you can answer that one.
Test drive both, live in the Tech section, read notes, visit local 1/4 mile track or roadcourse, take more notes, then decide what year you really want.
SOTP power is definately there and same for at the track. I ran both at the track (regardless of it being 1/8 mile, the results were crystal clear). I am yet to consider the steering a benefit. You can feel EVERY imperfection. The interior enhancements are nice.
Resale is a very important thing to me when I buy a car and I see the 08 having a hell of a lot better resale. However, the 07's are awefully cheap right now to counter that. Note that both cars haul *** so it depends on whether or not YOU need that extra horsepower. Tranny doesn't feel any better than it used to other than the gear that doesn't exist no longer being there (dead spot on the 2-3 shift)
