No, I'm thinking about both cars being supercharged or with heads and cam. I could be way off base, but it seems that no matter what the mods are, the majority of vettes run low 11, high 10 seconds (except c6 ZO6s). That being said, there are lower horsepower f-bodies and cobras that run those same times or better with less horsepower. So, I'm wondering if the original horsepower difference of the ls2 versus ls3 become a moot point when modding. To a greater extent, I'm wondering if there is a glass ceiling so to speak with the vette chasis and suspension. Don't get me wrong, I love my vette and wouldn't trade it for anything (except a Z06 ) I'm just trying to learn more about these cars and there capabilities.

The vettes running 11's and 10's typically are limited to traction not the car. There are many on this forum who run in the 9's and a couple in the 8's. It's all about getting the power to the ground and sticking. A 750rwhp car is going to run high 10's with street tires and mid 9's with DR's.

From what I gather so far, stock versus stock, the LS3 should win 10 out of 10 times with the drivers being fairly equal. Now my question is this, what about heavily modded? Take an LS2 versus LS3 with headers, CAI and supercharger or h/c cars. I'm guessing the LS2 will make approximately 500rwhp while the LS3 will make about 540rwhp. With this being the case, is it now a drivers race because the horsepower has surpassed what the car is capable of? Basically, is there no real performance difference between the 2 when heavily modded. Whereas stock the LS3 would win everytime with equal drivers, would that now no longer be the case?
Great first post Chris. Where are you going to use 500 HP? I too have an 07 Coupe, ( A6? } I have done the intake, headers, exhaust, 3.15 rearend, tune. The thing is wild. Until I get into the race scene, it's dangerous on the street. I don't worry about the LS3's, as I waited a long time for this car and it has way more than I can handle at this time. I could afford an LS3 but cannot imagine parting with this car right now.

I was kidding John. Making fun of some Z06 owners who think their car is better than anything no matter what. You are however aware that FI base cars are often not killing Z06s on a regular basis despite the disparity in power? The Z has a very good overall balance that gives it performance that belies its HP numbers. Give credit where credit is due.

And you will save money if what you are suggesting is dump the 07 for an 08. You will take a bath on resale - and what you would pay extra for the 08 will more than cover these bolt on mods.
Thanks, I needed to hear that. Since the temperature has dropped here in Denver, my 07 mn6, with Vararam, Kooks headers, Corsa sports, and tune, has come alive. I can not believe how different this car feels at the low outside temps. Yesterday I left about a 15' burnout going into second gear. OUTSTANDING, that was a first for me. There are days I covet an 08, but not yesterday!

Welcome....

Based on what I am hearing, the LS3 block is stronger. Specifially has a better bulkhead design. True they do not have a decent program for the heads, but that is just a matter of time. LG Motorsports are making over 500rwhp with A6 auto's. The LS3 repersents the way things will be.

The '08 ain't bad either. Improved steering, the A6 auto shifts with 18,000th of a sec (hugh improvement over the 06-07) The 6spds are greatly improved too.

The way I see it, trade yours before it gets worse and start over with an 08, IMHO.

Another thought... LS3 is very close behind the LS7. In fact I would say that is a better performance compairson (flame suit on for the Z06 owners) A modded LS3 and a Modded LS7 are just a few ponys apart. (except for the handling) Think about that when you write a check for $45-50K for your coupe vs. the $70K++ for the Z06.

It's all relative...in Greenwich, CT or out in East Hampton Long Island, C6 Z06s (even base C6s) are far more rare than a Ferrari F355/F360 or Aston Martin.

Heck, a lime green Yugo with purple polka dots is rarer than any Ferrari no matter where you're at.

Your car has all the potiential that you can handle so enjoy blowing your $$$
Strap a Turbine Jet Engine to your C6 Then it won't matter if its a LS1-2-3-7-8-9-10 YOU'LL BE FASTER!
