Does this have to be done at a dealer? How much?

Anybody that has a tool can do it.

There are 2 dealers near me. In the spring of 2005 when I got a 2nd set of wheels and needed the relearn procedure done to register the new sensors with TPMS one dealer wanted $10 and the other $49.95.

I got my own tool.

Go to a Discount Tire - most will do it for free.

Below is a video of the 90 second procedure.

It can be done at the dealer, of course. Search for posts or send a PM to BEZ06 -- he can tell you more about tire pressure monitor reset tools than anyone else on the forum. I bought a Schrader tool from him so that I can run street tires and race tires with sensors in both sets of wheels.

Hi Bert

I think we hit the send button at the same time!

I just haven't been able to find any tools for a good price lately. Most all of them on eBay recently are about $280 and up. All I currently have is one KTi tool (exactly like that TIPS tool in the video, but red in color instead of green).

...dealers around here want $90 - regardless if its 1 sensor or all 4. I bought the tool - verses being ripped-off by the dealer.

Yep!!!

That's why when I see a good deal on one I ****** it up and pass it on to other forum members at my cost plus shipping.

I've got a brand new KTi p.s.t. tool (exactly like the green TIPS tool in that video). I've had a number of them in the past and average my purchase prices together and usually am able to offer them for about $220.

See about it at: http://ktipst.com

Butt.....I've got one left that I'll pass on for $200 shipped. The KTi/TIPS tool is a completely universal tool that any tire shop would be proud to own to work on all different sensors on all vehicles.

The one I have is brand new so you can register it on their site for complete warranty coverage and have access to their upgrade software to keep it current as new sensors come out in the future.

The software loaded in it now is I believe current through the 2007 models (maybe 2008). It will work on all years and models of the C6 with the software in it now.

Some of the other tools offer free software upgrades, but KTi/TIPS has free upgrades for one year then it costs $49.95 a year for a new license subscription. You also nee a PIM (Programming Interface Module) that usually costs about $175 so you can hook it up to your computer. I have one I'll sell with the tool for $80 (and throw in a holster).

If you need a tool just for your C6, there is a source that has been selling them to forum members for $140 plus about 10 bucks shipping. If you're interested in that, let me know and I'll fish around and find the contact info.

If anybody wants the brand new KTi p.s.t. I have for $200 shipped ($280 with the PIM and holster), let me know. It will work on ALL sensors on ALL vehicles. You don't need the PIM or to upgrade the tool for it to work with all years/models of the C6.

Here's a picture of the tool, the PIM, and the holster. The "U-shaped" area on the bottom of the tool is a magnet for working with C5 or Jeep/Chrysler sensors.

Yep - that what I said in my post above. If you want one that will only work on the C6 I'll send you the Wright Tool contact info. There's a guy there that has been providing them to forum members at a very low price (probably his cost) of $140 plus shipping.

If you want something that will work on your Avalanche, Escalade, F250, etc., then you might want a universal tool that will cost a little more.

I recently bought a Schrader TPS tool from Bob and have already used it to test the sensors on my Silverado. I had to take it to the dealer the last time I rotated my tires because the sensors would not relearn, so there's value to having a universal tool. Beyond your C6 all vehicles from 2008 on will use tire pressure sensors so it's easy to justify the purchase.

Bob is great to do business with and I highly recommend his offerings.
