Rodent Problem
, but someone has to have some good advice when it comes to cleaning a motor. I recently opened my hood to do my oil change and was freaked out by what I saw. There are tons of empty snail shells under the fuel rail covers, all over the battery, and even cooked onto the intake. Additionally, there were a ton of rodent droppings "cooked" onto the same places as the snail shells. Obviously I need to resolve the rodents in my garage issue, but I was hoping someone could tell me the safest and most effective way to get my motor clean. I thought about power washing it, but a bit afraid I will damage something. What about steam cleaning it? I am disgusted by the way my motor looks and I am about to buy a cat and make him sleep in the garage. Also, after a good inspection, there is no damage to any of the wiring under the hood. Thanks,

I wouldn't power wash it; elbow grease is probably the better way. You can get some orange or citrus cleaner from Home Depot (Ace, etc.), cut it 50% with water, spray on, soak, and wipe off with a brush/towel/etc. Finish with a little detailer on a rag. Good luck.
