hey guys--- i had a question for people who are familiar with the vette's electrical system. I had a problem with my battery the last few weeks. It seems to drain by itself in about 12-14 hours with no real explanation behind it. I know that putting it in reverse when parked does something to keep the battery charged. I have made sure to do that but it still seems to lose its charge. Could you all offer me some explanation why that may be happening before I take it to the shop. Also, the battery is drained to the point where the car will not unlock or the trunk will not open. I am not sure how to get my stuff out of the car now. Fortunately, i have another car, but i have some important stuff that I need to get like my id badge and garage opener. Additionally, I think i may have lost the key when i switched all my keys to a new key chain. it wasnt in my safe. so any advice is appreciated and sorry i am coming to yall with a ****tard question. thanks
If you have an 05 MN6 it must be shut off on reverse. All others any gear is OK for the battery. If you have an 05 and it's the original battery and been discharged many times then the battery needs to be replaced. If you lost your keys then the only option is to charge the battery by the hot post on the starter solenoid.
thanks for your reply. so it is only the battery that needs to be replaced? I am hoping it is that and not some other part. I dont want to venture a guess bc my car knowledge is a far cry from what is was 10 yrs ago. do you know if there is a way to pop the hood without using the button in the car. also could you explain or link me to a place to show me how to do that technique u talk about<
I could be wrong, but there may also be a reflash of your computer that might help things. As to the loss of a key, that's something you can buy from the dealer (or other sources) and get it programmed as well to your car. At least the battery and computer reflash (if needed) may be covered by Chevrolet.

The only way to pop the hood is from inside. If you have an 05 MN6 get the flash that AORoads mentions. You need a battery charger to get in. Jack up the right side of the Corvette and locate the starter motor. You will see the solenoid attached to it. Next look for the large copper bolt with the battery cable running from it. Connect the charger to the copper bolt and the door should open in a few minuets or maybe longer depending on your battery's state of charge. After the doors open, open the hood and replace the battery.
