Has DBS problem been fixed on '08?
Having sampled a number of messages regarding dead battery events, battery tenders, etc. it seems like the dead battery syndrome has 3 factors:
I don't own a C6 so I'm not sure I understand the "park in reverse" thing but that sounds like that comes from the owner's manual.
OEM batteries are usually not the best choice on a lot of cars. No surprises there.
I read many mentions of problems going away after the dealer "flashed" their car with new software. Do the '08's incorporate this fix as delivered or is this still a problem going forward?
- Early C6 firmware doesn't power down all electronics
- GM supplied AC Delco battery is no good
- Failure to park in Reverse

Some 05 and 06 models with MN6 transmission had DBS. It's been corrected and is no longer a problem. The 05 MN6 is required to shut down in reverse. The 06 and later do not need too and can shut down in any gear.

I had two 2005s, and now a 2008. I have heard of almost no cases of DBS after the 2005s. The shifting to reverse was only required in 2005.
I think most of the issues we hear about now are a matter of the batteries draining if the car sits two or three weeks (and weather seems to be a factor). I really think part of the issue is that a lot of Corvettes are not daily drivers, and I can honesly say there have been times of bad weather when I can't remember if my car sat for two or three weeks. I think that is enough to be a factor.
None of my Corvettes have been daily drivers, and I've only had a dead battery once - about a year ago in my 05. The car had sat for two or three weeks (like I said, I don't remember which). The weather had been cool and rainy. I charged the battery at home and never had another problem with it.
