headers.

I wouldnt worry about a beefy intake until you had more of a reason for it.

Until a cam went in the car I'd be happy with a ported stock intake.

Very thought provoking question. I did my Kooks headers and Corsa Sports a couple of months ago and I love them. Now, I have been doing my homework how to purchase, port, modify, and install the FAST intake manifold. But, your question is 'which one first.' I believe you will find the vast majority of guys would do their headers and cat-back first, assuming you have a stock cam and heads. I also believe the power gains with headers and a tune would be slightly higher than a stock exhaust, FAST and a tune. Also, the sound from the headers is awesome, much more than the stock exhaust manifolds (or a FAST with no headers.) First time my wife heard the 'rumble' on deceleration, she asked if I was going to get that 'fixed.' I just smiled knowing it cost me thousands to get it to sound like that. Mars and Venus.

I would be interested to hear the inputs from anyone who has just a FAST, and did not install headers or catback. Let us know what you decide.

Default What is the trend.

Your question is interesting as it is somewhat a shift from the normal
pattern of modding from new. The net HP/TQ gain from headers is
substantial and works quite well with CAI. A tune is then required
to realize the increased performance. I would suggest the Headers
first and later consider the fast. Thats where I am now. Considering
how much additional the FAST might give me. Good luck

Default Headers

Get the headers first! Better intake improves flow on the front end but if you can't get it out the back with improved flow you won't gain as much. Plus the fast goes better with a cam change IMO. I highly recommend the LG's as well. By the way, I like your screen name!

Both are great Products!

What are you looking to get here?

More power or a lil gain in HP and some high quality sound?

Personally I wouldn't touch the engine until you have too. When you start adding things like Heads, Cam, etc. that's when I would get the FAST. Can't go wrong with LG LT's....I personally think they're the best on the market. Lou's group knows there stuff!

LG pros, American Racing Headers or Kooks, call LG, A&A, or any of the vendors, talk with them, they are all good guys and will keep you on your road. Going with less means Pro's give best mid range rwtq, ARH's and Kooks, give just a little more on top. RWHP cost bucks, and don't ever think you can get their by spending less.

There was a write-up in Corvette Fever where the "Three Amigos" added approximately 95 hp by upgrading the air intake (Calloway Honker), long tube headers (1-7/8ths MTI Racing), low flow cats, cross pipe and a catback system. It should be noted that these upgrades where on C6 ZO6 vettes. I am not sure if the ZO6 intake manifold and heads are higher flow than a regular C6. Good Luck.
