Regarding weight reduction--I view it like this.

If 100lbs=.1 then every pound is worth roughly .001(give or take of course)

A few one thousandths of a second are not much in the grand scheme of life, but it is absolutely the difference between a 10.998 and an 11.001.

I have many timeslips where I only missed my 10 sec goal by .002 or .004. If I had taken out the misc crap from the center console or removed the privacy net from the hatch..I may have had the slip I was after long before I got it. It's very easy to shed 100lbs or more in these cars but even that last 3 or 4 pounds could make or break your run.

Before I go to the dragstrip, I take all the stuff out of the center console, remove the grocery net in the rear, remove the privacy screen from the hatch, and make sure I have <1/4 tank of gas or less. The front sway bar is always off the car so all I have to do is remove the passenger seat and I'm ready to go.

I could do a few other things to shed another 15-30lbs but that will have to wait till next race season.

With regard to weight

It is extremely important if you are going for that low 11 or 10 second slip and the best bang for not spending a buck. When I inspect cars at the track besides looking for the hidden N20. I always take note of what is in or out of the cars.

It's post #6037 that is the "complete"/legal one that needs to be updated.

PS: Thomasmoto I still have a black 87 turbo Buick parked in the garage, its still running the stock rear with a built 2004R trans. It went a 9.94 @133/134 MPH on a 0 boost launch and 22 PSI of boost down the track last November at a track retail at MIR on drag radials. SO I KNOW ABOUT THEM THERE NASTY BLACK V6 BUICKS. Oh, and I still have 8 to 10 more psi of boost if I want to turn the **** up. And the AIR still works.

Man that's awesome. I really regret selling my last T- Type. It was only a mid 10 car and the a/c still worked on it to. Maybe I'll get another one someday.

Didn't take long to get the times down. Same exact way it sat when I ran the 12.7. The only difference was DA was a bit lower but still + and I stalled the car up about 300 rpms higher. Bolt-on list.

Hi to all,

If this is the wrong thread, very sorry.

An open question please. Does anyone have advice on staging and lining the car up so it goes straight?

This may sound remedial, but, I tend to aim the car slightly to the left when staged and that means an almost immediate correction to get into the groove.

I don't have that problem, but for sure a straight line to the finish line is the best path to take and if you are off kilter on the start you could get way off kilter over correcting so a proper lineup is important.

Best advice I could give would be the same advice for canoeing or boating - look ahead...you want your eyes on where you want to go and aim that way.

Second piece of advice is to have someone line you up. You often see pros and others doing this as some cars are really hard to see out of.

I recall Jungle Pam.

Last comment is if you are uncomfortable with your line up or anything else, back out of the lights and get comfortable. Don't let people rush you, get comfortable. That won't work for you in a points race, you'll lose, but in TnT they usually don't mind if people are still learning. Better to make sure you're comfortable before you light the second bulb by the way.

And the overriding rule - going down the track or at the launch, if you get out of line, let off the gas. Chances are you can steer out of trouble if you have your foot out of it. If you keep it floored and your tires are spinning it's very difficult to steer your way out of trouble. "When in doubt, let out."

You'll get it. Like anything else practice makes perfect.
