Default 08 Tunnel Plate

I vaguely remember reading a post by someone mentioning that the 08 C6 tunnel plates were changed from previous C6 models. Can anyone confirm/deny this? I was look at ordering an EE tunnel plate with insulator but wanted to make sure it was worth the cost. Thanks!

Call the guy you want to buy it from and see if he knows? That way if it doesn't fit you won't have problems returning it.

The stock plate on my '08 was 1/8" aluminum. I bought the LAPD 1/4" plate and insulated it with some Koolmat I had on hand. An immediate difference in chassis stiffness was noticed. The car seems much more rigid. I really never had a heat issue, so bought it mainly for the chassis changes. I'm very pleased with the mod..

LAPD's tunnel plates are awesome! I went with the 1/4" plate on my Z06 and it made a great improvement!

The LAPD 3/8" plate made a surprisingly noticeable improvement in handling. The car feels more planted in sweepers and it's harder to "chirp" the inside rear tire when accelerating out of a tight corner.

As for heat reduction, it seems to delay the heat coming into the center console by 15 - 20 minutes, but once it comes through it seems just as warm as before.

Getting back to the OP's question - the factory plate in Modshack's picture looks identical to the factory plate from my '07 Coupe.

The OEM 08 plate is supposedly slightly thicker. However, I don't have a pre 08 plate to measure so I can't say absolutely.

LGM installed a thermal plate on my car and the shop techs commented on the additional thickness compared with earlier C6s plates. They asked if I was going to keep the stock plate because they said it would be an upgrade for someone with an older C6. I'll measure the OEM 08 plate tonight and those with a 07 or earlier plate can comment.

I forgot to post links for both LAPD tunnel plates.

Here they are for those of you that are interested. The prices are the lowest I have seen anywhere and I got mine super fast!

Your stock plate on the 2008 C6 is 1/8" thick (actually measures 0.130"). We have had great results with both our 1/4" and 3/8" thick aluminum Tunnel Plates.

Let me know if you have any questions at all!

The rear O2 sensors will make noise banging on the plate over road imperfections, at least it did on mine.

Thanks for the heads up about the O2 sensors. That should be an easy fix, knowing before hand that it's a problem. So, other than that, no additional problems? Are you still using the 3/8" tunnel plate?
