Default Key Fob Programing

Hello,
I have a 2007 Coupe and the number 1 key fob is not working but the number 2 is. I read in the owners manual that I can program up to 4 fobs using the slot in the glove box. Would anyone here know if I can program fob number 1 in this manner or only #3 #4??

Thanks
Dan

Not trying to be Captain Obvious here, but have you changed the battery in fob #1? If the battery is good, you can get a new #1 fob. be sure of the part # for the #1 fob - it is so marked. Contact Gene Culley at GMPartsHouse.com for a good price and great service.

The dealer lost my #2 fob, who knows how, and ordered a new second fob for me. It came in and I took it to the dealer for programming. No problem, but upon closer examination, they are both #1 on the back of the fobs.
Seem to work OK, so is the numbering just so we, the users, don't get confused? Or is there a bigger concern that I know nothing about?

I also saw that we can program fobs, in the owner's manual, I just decided they lost it so they can do it for me.

I'll be interested to see how Bridan's attempt turns out.

Thanks. It is a new car just got it about 1 month ago. The dealer gave me #1 fob from another 2007 vette and can't find mine. So I thought I would try to solve it myself by just reprograming it.

The fobs are numbered for a reason. The computer 'sees' which fob and allows you to set certain things differently for driver 1 (fob 1) and driver 2 (fob 2). You can have additional fobs (3 &4) but they will not have any settings associated with them. They way you are set now, no matter which fob you bring to the car, it will only recall settings for driver 1. (Look up DIC Vehicle Personalization in your owners manual)

Your dealer ordered the wrong part number. I would go back to the dealer and get him to order another fob - and this time get it right

The number on the back is to ID the fob, depending upon which position it was programmed it will recall those settings. So, even though you have 2 #1 fobs, if one is programmed as #1, and the other is programmed in the #2 slot, they will recall those positions. You will need a dealer to reprogram a fob if you are going to replace a lost or broken fob that was a #1 or #2 position fob.

So ... since the dealer did the program it SHOULD be set as #2? I guess the best way to check is to get in with the original #1, check settings, then try again with the new #1 (now #2) and see if they change. OK, gotta put that on the list of to do things.

Bridan - almost the same thing for me, bought the car a month ago and they had lost the original #2 fob .... how in the world can they find all the keys for their trucks and cars, but lose the 'Vette fobs? You'd think they would keep better track of the higher end stuff!

Default Can You Program Two # 2 FOB's?

My Wife lost my original FOB # 1 and I have the original FOB # 2 for my 2006 C6. If I can a spare used find FOB # 2 cheaper than a used FOB # 1, can I program two # 2 FOB's(Original and spare) and just use the second #2 that I am planning to purchase as a spare? My wife never drives the car so I do not care if the FOB I buy keeps all the "settings". I just want to have a spare that will unlock and start the car should I lose my original # 2 FOB.

I always wondered if there was any difference in the FOB # 1 and # 2 that cam with the car other than the numbers on the backs of the FOB's.

I realize that Gene has these on sale for approx. 48.00. I will go that route and buy a new # 1 if I cannot find a FOB any cheaper.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!
