i tried the accel u groove on many different cars. the motorcraft were the fastest for 2 runs if you drove there forget it, the accels were slower and worse if you drove their, the champions in a ford were 2nd fastest by .002 but you could put them in at the track or home no difference, and lasted 3 weeks before slowing. all the others after that day were slower

Tr-55's gapped @ .057 and indexed. Do it on every plug change in the Vette. better to buy 16 plugs and find 8 you want than the crush rings.
Added MSD wires also They inproved their quaility!
Starts faster and seems a little better go pedal.

Just buy 16 plugs. Don't gap them until u find which hole they are going in and take back the new extra's.

Yes about 20 plugs would be better, I always feel it is worth it
seems to really snap to life on the start with the balanced combustion.
I just put mine at 10- 12 postion. Looked right for the LS-3

thx. for sharing your results. i agree, 'nothing beats a good champion' (pun intended).

hhmmm....maybe that's why i kept 'toasting' the 'coil' on the '74 Camaro (hand built 360 cu.). i ran the modded 'accels' all the time (DD). the ignition consists of a MSD 6a Box, Mallory Magnetic Breakerless Dist., Mallory Blue Max wires, accel plugs and coil after coil after coil.... they would just 'boil' and start leaking.

now you tell me. i really can't remember, she's down in tenn. right now waiting for my son and i to get some time to redo her.

my box survived, never had any problems with it but did begin to wish i had the 'adjustable' one (where you could change the 'chip') but i just never got the 'coil' issue resolved. they would just leak all over the place then fry. i finally ended up mounting the coil to the firewall but it didn't really help much. they had to perfectly straight (vertical) to get any time out of them.

i cut/trim the electrode so it had the gap on the side instead of the tip and would point it at the intake valve.

yes the blue max were copper, wrapped in silver. then kevlar, they weighed about 10 lbs with the shrink sleeves i think it was 21 srands of copper silver coated and thats what kekt burning the coil up if you pull a wire off to check spark you will hear a high pitch squeal as the spark jumps
