Default I Need Help!!!

Okay I was just cutting the black shroud where the air intake rests on so I can get free cold air. I accidentally hit the radiator screen behind it with a really sharp serated knife. NOW IT'S LEAKING AIR like crazy and it's loud!!! did I just ruin my baby??? I don't know what to do!! I don't want to start my car and see a fire!! I never needed help so fast from anyone online. Please help me someone!!! What should I do?

Sounds like you put a hole in the AC condenser. The sound you are hearing is the freon leaking out. The condenser will have to be replaced. It is safe to drive your car. You will not have any climate control however.

thanks for the response Tom!, it felt like cold air coming out too. Words can't describe how much I hate myself right now. Well I'm glad I can still drive the car. I'm gonna go out and cut the rest of that shroud out. I won't be able to get good sleep for weeks now...

The escaping Freon felt cold because it was changing from a liquid state to a gaseous state as it was leaking out. Be careful cutting down around there the radiator and hoses are there also they are not as exposed as the condenser but you never know. Unfortunately the AC repairs are going to be $$$$$.

You aren't the first...and probably won't be the last. Sorry for your problems - about $600 of them

Don't beat yourself up too bad...everybody makes mistakes. I cut my right hand off with a circular saw. It took 6 hours of microsurgery to reattach it and many more surgeries to get it working decently. Plus about $50,000. At least your condenser will be a lot easier to replace and cheaper.

Sorry about that. I've been working on cars over fifty years and never made a mistake. Don't worry, we all do it.
