Default 402 no bore stroker for LS2

Does any one know of any companies that make a 402 Stroker without boring out the block? I have heard of this before, I was just wondering if it is possible? And if so what vendors? Thanks to all who respond in advance.

Texas Speed made mine. They do finish hone the block. I have sinced bored mine but originally it was just a finish hined 402. Scoggin is another good shop, LPE, Cartek, very common. If you are thinking of using stock pistons on different rods and crank don't. Spend the money.

We have done a number of 402 LS2 powered packages as well. I build them to order, for exactly what you need and want from the car.

Check your PM's, I'd be happy to put one together for you.

We offer short-blocks in just about every flavor you can imagine. We typically keep approx. 40 short-blocks in stock at one time! I currently have 6 different 402 short-blocks in stock, if you need a price shoot me a pm. I bet we have the correct configuration for your needs.

Thanks

We're also working on a ls3 based short-block that will be approx. 420cid & be compatible with PRC LS7 heads! Keep your eyes open because we'll be dyno testing this bad boy pretty soon!

Why not? What is the risk in that?

For many reasons. First it would become the weak link in your new engine. Second the design of that piston is not favorable towards power adder applications. Other issues include having to run a shorter rod than if you went with an after market piston that allows you to move the wrist pin up. There are other reasons why, but this should be enough to justify the expense difference.

Pretty much why spend the money to build an engine if it is not going to be done right.

Hmmm, what does moving the wrist pin up do to the ring package?

The reason why I asked is that since I live at 7000' elevation, a stroker kit would probably bring me back to about stock (sea level) power levels, thus stress on the motors components.

Right now, my car can never make more than 316 hp here...and that's if the weather is ideal, which it never is.

What are your goals? You would be better off with gears then doing a head / cam over stroking your stock engine.

Are you talking to me? If so, my goals are to increase "SOTP" (torque)...and to do the work myself. LOWERING the power curve doesn't bother me, and a stroker woudl still increase hp...even breathing through the stock head and cam -something gears cannot do. I'm not confident about jumping into the diff, but I am pretty confident about engine work. I don't want to buy engine kits, I want to work on my own car, as I alway have.

Moving the wrist pin up allows you to run a longer rod, which gives you a better rod to stroke ratio. You want to minimize side load on the piston skirt when possible.

I just moved to 7000' elevation from NJ. I know the feeling. My stroker feels much weaker but will still eat a stock car at sea level. I'm throwing 6psi on mine. I really require 550 rwhp all the time. Its a problem I have. The pills dont help.

I've got the same problem, but not the money to "fix" it w/the C6. I think I may have been better off w/mid '80's F-bods.
