Default Lingenfelter Cold Air Intake

I have a 2008 A6 C6 with the NPP and I am looking to install my first under the hood mod.

I previously had a highly modified 2005 CTSV that I traded for the new 08 C6 and have always been a fan of Lingenfelter's products, technical expertise and professionalism.

There seems to be more CAI's for the C6 with various claims to HP and Torque increases etc, etc.

I am curious if anyone has the LPE C6 CAI and can share there thoughts on it and why they chose the LPE CAI versus the 1001 other CAI's for the C6 from other companies.

Once again...any advice, helpful opinions and suggestions are welcomed with regard to recommending to me a high quality CAI for my 08 C6.......I am very open to recommendations.

best regards - Pete

I have a LPE on my 07. The fit and finish is like oem. I had a Vararam it made good power but was lacking in fit and finish. I changed to the LPE when we put the Maggie on,the Vararam won't work with the Maggie. Call LPE they can help you out.

Just be advised: this is from the bottom of the instructions to LPE's installation:

"DISCLAIMER:
CAUTION SHOULD BE USED WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN.
DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH DEEP STANDING WATER."

At the time I installed my LPE, Varraram customers were having many issues with quality and fit and finish. They might have fixed those problems but it was to late to get my business. Im not so sure I would trust a company who put out such a poor product to begin with. LPE quality is OEM like and Im pleased with it.

I had the LPE on my 05' and yes it looked OEM-nice fit and finish. However, to me there was no SOP performance difference, and to clean the filter you had to take the unit apart to get at the filter-a real PITA. With the 08', I am going with the Vararam just for the easy of servicing if not the performance.

The power gain from the LPE air intake alone is about 12 hp peak on a stock 2005-2007 LS2 Corvette. That level of difference can be fairly difficult to actually feel on a vehicle with 400 or so hp.

Competing products make similar (or lower) power gains when tested under properly controlled conditions.

1001 other CAI's? 3 or 4 CAI's, the others are just filter/airbox changes, not cold Air Intakes.

The LPE fit, finish and brand name convinced me to buy.

I have the LPE and really liked the quality..As to the quote above, that is found or should be on any and all CAI...Common sense tells me not to take on high water with any system or even the stock unit in place...LPE is known for their quality and I found this product to be nothing less than what is expected.....as to taking it apart o clean the filter that is not true...I quess i should say it takes me about 30 minutes to clean it just taking my time.

To me the name "Lingenfelter" is synonymous with Corvette performance engineering. Their reputation for quality and performance is well deserved and legendary. There may be a few other comparable performing CAI's but IMO when you go with Lingenfelter you know you're going with the best.

Needless to say I'm pleased with my LPE CAI...its construction quality, fit, appearance, performance and drivability. I have driven in moderate to heavy rainfall without a problem. I am, however, somewhat more cautious driving in the rain and I avoid plowing through deep standing water.

Even the Corvette owner's manual cautions against driving through deep standing water with the stock air intake.

The design of the C6 makes it far less susceptible to ingesting water than the C5 was. I've driven through some fairly heavy rain with my LPE CAI without incident. I do, however, avoid fording any streams.

I have your CAI on my car and love it. I have been through low speed driving classes (car control clinics) where we had to drive on really wet surface with giant sprinklers splashing the car and there was at lease 2 in of standing water - no issues

A question, just guessing based on the color of the filter media, is K&N manufacturing it?

That was simply an attempt at satire with regard to 1001 CAI's.....I am a disciple of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering; their products, R&D with regard to engineering and testing is second to none; period!

If not for John Lingenfelter; the LS platform may never have existed.

Tim, Jeff or whomever is responding on behalf of LPE; what is the ETA for the LS3 LPE CAI for the new 08 C6 platforms?

Please note, that is a direct, copy-paste quote from LPE instructions. And if you further note, there is a period between "...when driving in heavy rain." and "...do not drive through deep water." Two completely separate items of alert/attention.

I am sure everyone who buys one is careful under both instances.
