I bought the Kent-Moore J-46079. It's not cheap, about $125.00 and works great, but If I had it to do all over I would find someone on-line or at the clubs to borrow. I only used it once. even some of the stealers will do it for free.

I'm still hoping for a reasonably-priced tool too... we don't need a fancy tool with digital readouts, diagnostics, ability to trigger every TPS on the market... just the barest amount of functionality that allows us to swap & relearn our C6 wheels/tires. period. No LED's, no readouts, no custom-molded plastic case -- shoot, I wouldnt even care if it had an on/off switch -- just connect a 9v (or 12v) battery, use it to trigger each sensor, and take the battery out when you are done. Just enough to get the job done.

Are the C6 TPMS sensors truly _that_ complex that there is no simple solution as I've described?

Our sensors are the simplest radio frequency triggered sensors there are.

Many sensors require pulsed/coded transmissions from the tool. Some require FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) and others ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying) to send the proper code to the sensor to excite them and get them to send their data to the TPMS computer in the car.

Our C6 sensors only require a "continuous wave" VLF (Very Low Frequency) transmission on 125 Kilo Hertz for 5 to 7 seconds. They don't need any coded pulses, just a steady continuous wave.

I bought one of these hoping it would be the solution you're talking about - a simple, small, cheap tire sensor reset tool. Butt....it doesn't work. I think it's too small and low powered. It's advertised as a sensor reset tool and has the TPMS icon molded into the case. It has a Ford part#, and if it worked I was going to see if it was readily available through Ford parts departments and praise it here on the forum as the cheapest answer to our sensor reset problems. But I just haven't been able to make it work.

Another solution is if you can find a couple sets of sensors with GM Part# 10354988. These sensors were in a very few very early 2005 C6's. My C6 coupe built in August '04 has these sensors and they can be triggered with a magnet. There are only a handful of these sensors out there, and to my knowledge there are not any in the GM parts line any more.

So....if you have the interest and knowledge to build a small 125 kHz transmitter for 20 bucks you'll be able to sell one to every C6 owner out there.

Go for it!!!

Wright Tool Company sales about the cheapest I've found that works - TMPS Trackside - seems it was around $140.
